    BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty was applauded by fans after shutting down a "smug" guest on Friday (August 25).

    Naga and Charlie Stayt presented from the red sofa during the latest instalment of the morning programme, sharing the top news stories with viewers across the country.

    They confirmed that Great Britain's energy price cap has fallen below £2,000 a year for the first time in 18 months, with households expecting to pay an average of £1,923 a year from October.

    Naga spoke to Tory MP Andrew Bowie who claimed this is a "positive day" as the price cap is now falling.

    The interview got off to a rocky start as Bowie shut down Naga''s claims that he didn't answer her first question, saying: "I wasn't telling you about what the government is doing Naga, I was telling you what the situation is."

    The presenter interjected: "You were. You were telling me that inflation is coming down and that your plan is working, but I asked you if you think the new price is affordable."

    Later, Naga simply asked: "Do you think it's affordable?"

    Dodging the question, Bowie responded: "As I said, it's heading in the right direction. It's more affordable now than it has been at any point."

    He went on to say that the government has proven that they will step in and support those most in need of help in paying their bills, reaffirming that things are moving in the "right direction".

    Well played Nagga

    Naga is having none of this smug tory twats bullshit. He is now telling the BBC how it should be reporting things. The arrogance of these fuckers……

    Well done Naga! Asking the questions we want answers for. He was a deer in the headlights! Disastrous for him

    @TVNaga01

    completely munching slimy Tory simpleton

    @AndrewBowie_MP

    was a very enjoyable start to a Friday morning.

    @AndrewBowie_MP

    on #bbcbreakfast clearly hasn’t done his homework on the impact the standing charge will have on the poorest – energy firms stinging those at the bottom to protect revenues I suspect. Well done

    @TVNaga01

    Naga being all now THAT, dear viewer, was your Energy Minister. Loving her obvious disdain. Naga Totally Grilling the Energy Minister ThisMorning & Let Him Away With Nothing Go Naga.

    Andrew Bowie on #bbcbreakfast , what an arrogant, rude little shit. Face like a slapped arse when #naga pointed out a few home truths. He really didn’t like being disagreed with. Energy Minister

    @AndrewBowie_MP

    fails to answer reasonable questions about energy bill affordability, including rising standard charges in the latest car crash interview. #bbcbreakfast doing a good job on behalf of its viewers.
