Radio DJ Chris Evans involved in crash injuring two passengers at CarFest

Radio DJ Chris Evans was treated by paramedics after being involved in a car accident earlier today.

Chris, 57, is said to have flipped over a TukTuk on Saturday (August 26), leaving two female passengers injured at CarFest.

The presenter reportedly had onlookers staring in horror when he overturned the little automated rickshaw vehicle while attempting ‘doughnuts’.

According to The Mirror, witnesses at the scene told the publication that the injured women were guests of the multi-millionaire DJ, and they had to be helped out of the upside-down vehicle.

Both sustained minor injuries in the accident at the event at Laverstoke Park Farm, near Basingstoke in Hampshire.

Chris is not thought to have been hurt and he was seen giving the passengers assistance, with video footage capturing an ambulance already at the event rushing over.

Festival organisers declined to answer questions about the incident.

However, they issued a statement confrming what had happened: ‘This morning at CarFest, the Tuk Tuk which Chris Evans was driving overturned on the track as Chris changed direction.

‘The two passengers on board had minor injuries and the CarFest on-site medical team attended to support.

‘Richard Hammond was not in the vehicle at any time.’

Indeed, Richard was also in attendance at CarFest, but the accident-prone Top Gear star was not involved in the accident.

Meanwhile, Chris himself also has a history of driving blunders, having previously crashed a Jaguar on loan to Top Gear.

He only hosted on the show for one series, quitting in favour of Jeremy Clarkson.

Chris’s accident this weekend comes after he publicly revealed his skin cancer diagnosis.

The broadcaster shared the news with his listeners during his Virgin Radio show, assuring everyone that, luckily, the cancer had been caught in its early stages.

Chris also said he was hopeful for a full recovery and is set to receive treatment next month.

‘I’ve just got to talk briefly about my biopsy for the skin cancer issue,’ he said.

‘So, the best news that I got whilst I was away is that it was a positive test, so I have tested positive for skin cancer.

‘Obviously, better news would have been [that it was] negative. But the reason it’s great news is because they’ve caught it as early as they can, as early as is possible.’

He also confirmed he had melanoma, adding: ‘There’s this phrase called a malignant melanoma – you know once you get something and you find out all about it – that is a redundant phrase because if it is a melanoma, it is malignant.’

‘But it’s been caught so early, just so you know, that it should be completely treatable.’

According to the broadcaster, that is set to happen ‘on the 14th of September’ with an operation to remove ‘a small square of skin’.

Reps for Chris Evans have been contacted for comment.
