Russell Brand’s awkward run-in with Sir Bob Geldof has resurfaced following serious allegations of sexual assault against the comedian.
The 48-year-old is currently facing accusations of rape and sexual assault that are said to be from a period between 2006 and 2013 – all of which he has since denied.
While attending the NME awards back in 2006, Russell was slammed by the Diamond Smiles singer as he was accepting his gong on stage.
The Irish musician accepted his accolade from the Essex native and exclaimed: ‘Russell Brand, what a c***’, as he brushed past him on the way to the microphone.
Following the tense moment, Russell hit back at the artist and joked that Sir Bob was ‘such an expert in famine’ because he had been ‘dining out on I Don’t like Mondays for 30 years’.
That same year, the actor suffered yet another heated encounter with a celebrity as he was called out by singer Sir Rod Stewart after he claimed he slept with the star’s daughter at the 2006 GQ Men Of The Year Awards.
Almost a decade ago, the Get Him to the Greek star publicly upset Sir Rod when he took a swipe at his daughter Kimberly while collecting his award at the magazine’s event.
Russell ruffled feathers when he crudely declared to the audience at the time: ‘Here’s to Rod Stewart who had a go at me earlier this year for too much womanising.
‘But then again I did have a go on his daughter.’
Sir Rod, now 78, didn’t take kindly to Russell’s claims and had his own say when he too took to the stage to receive his accolade.
The Every Beat of My Heart singer called out the comedian and said: ‘You went with my daughter, did you? Russell, stand up.’
Russell sheepishly attempted to explain himself and replied: ‘I took her out for one evening,’ to which Sir Rod demanded to know if he had behaved himself while in his daughter’s company.

‘I never touched that girl,’ the former Big Brother presenter backtracked which prompted a response from the star that went like: ‘F***ing right you didn’t. You mustn’t come up here and boast. I speak here as a father’.
Sharing Kimberly – now 44 – with his ex-wife Alana, 78, Sir Rod chatted about the heated exchange with the Evening Standard afterwards.
He told the publication: ‘[Russell] might be a bit of a player but he shouldn’t boast. I never did. Russell’s been a bit timid since I had my say.’
The notorious back and forth has resurfaced following the findings of a joint investigation by The Times, The Sunday Times and Channel 4 Dispatches.
Russell’s former agency Tavistock Wood, commented on the allegations and said in a statement sent to Metro.co.uk: ‘Russell Brand categorically and vehemently denied the allegation made in 2020, but we now believe we were horribly misled by him.
‘TW has terminated all professional ties to Brand.’
Metro.co.uk contacted Sir Rod, Sir Bob and Russell’s reps for comment.
