The Chase viewers were left reaching for the tissues after Bradley Walsh halted the show to issue a “heartbreaking” message.
The hit ITV gameshow was back on TV screens on Wednesday (September 20) as telly legend Bradley Walsh welcomed four new quizzers.
As fans tuned in for the primetime programme, the former Corrie star introduced contestants Rhys, Ann, Bethan and Darren before they battled it out to take home the all-important cash prize.

This week the quartet were up against The Menace who made sure to bring his A-game against the wise quizzers.
However, things took a rather emotional turn when it was Ann’s turn.
The retired pharmacist revealed that her husband had sadly been diagnosed with dementia during lockdown 2020. She quizzed Brad: “Could I make a plug for my husband?”
Bradley replied: “Plug away darling.” Ann then said: “His name is John, he is in a care home and they’ll all be watching. Can you say hello to John and all the staff.”
Halting the show and looking to the camera, Bradley said: “John, lots of love to you mate, everyone looking after everyone there, and especially those looking after John.
“Thank you so, so much from myself and Ann. Lots of love,” he added. Bradley then turned to Ann and quipped: “Now are you ready to play?”
Viewers watching the show at home were left in tears over the beautiful moment. Many headed over to X, formerly known as Twitter.
One person penned: “Got something in my eye,” as another wrote: “Oh Ann! What a babe.” Someone else chimed in and gushed: “I’m crying and I haven’t even burnt the dinner yet.”
A fourth proclaimed: “This is breaking my heart.” In the head-to-head, Ann played for a hefty £6,000 – and managed to make it through. She joined Rhys and his £6,000 – making the total to play for so far, £12,000.

Up next was Bethan, who played for £3,000 and also made it through the final. Final player Darren also made it through with five grand – making the total jackpot to play for an eye-popping £20,000.
In the final round, the four players managed to get 16 correct answers. However, The Menace caught the team with 12 seconds remaining – sending them home empty-handed.
