Nigel Farage slams rude Laurence Foxs vile GB News comments despite past link

Nigel Farage has slammed now former GB News presenter Laurence Fox for comments he made about a female journalist.

A week on from the scandal, former UKIP leader Nigel Farage gave his thoughts on what happened whilst appearing on ITV 's Good Morning Britain. The politician had been attending the Conservative party conference in Manchester and spoke of his joy before turning his attention to the run-in.

Farage admitted to Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard: "GB is a channel that promotes free speech. But there's a fine line between free speech and being bloody rude and Laurence's comments showed he was being rude."

Nigel continued that he believed GB News was a "great platform for debate", to which Garraway clapped back, claiming that the broadcast service goes out of its way to cause offence in talking about controversial subjects.

But the former politician continued: "Some people take offence to issues that are even being debated – well, to hell with them. But how we discuss the issues, the language we use – the responsibility we show – that's the point we are trying to achieve. Just standing there being abusive, that's not what the channel is about."

GB News has been embroiled in several scandals since it first hit the airwaves in 2021. Since going on air for the first time, the channel has been fined for breaking broadcasting rules a minimum of three of three times.

Former UKIP leader Farage also has a complicated history with right-wing commentator Fox. After leaving his party, Farage set up a new political movement, Reform UK, which gave Fox its political backing when the former Lewis actor ran for the position of Mayor of London in March 2021.

Laurence appeared on fellow broadcaster Dan Wootton's show on GB News last week when he made the vile misogynist comments about political journalist Ava Evans. In the rant, Fox hit out at Evans, saying: "I don't know any self-respecting man who would want to get into bed with that, other than incels."

Responding to his claims, Ava admitted she had felt "physically sick" at what the former actor had to say. The channel was swamped with complaints as a result and both Dan and Laurence were suspended by the channel.

In the wake of the incident, both Laurence and Dan were forced to apologise to Ava for their handling of the scandal. Laurence has since been axed altogether from the network, while the investigation into Dan continues.
