King Charles is secret fan of Star Trek, reveals iconic actor | The Sun
KING Charles is a secret Trekkie, says Jean-Luc Picard actor Sir Patrick Stewart.
The 83-year-old, who played the USS Enterprise captain in Star Trek: The Next Generation, reckons the royal is a fan after chatting during several meetings.
Charles, 74, was 17 when the original “Beam me up, Scotty” TV series launched in 1966. It has since spawned a string of telly spin-offs and a movie franchise.
In 1996 Charles attended the premiere of Star Trek: First Contact and requested actress Marina Sirtis, who played Deanna Troi, to accompany him to the screening.
Sir Patrick, also a renowned Shakespearean actor, said: “I am convinced King Charles is a Star Trek fan.
“I’ve met him several times when he was the Prince of Wales and, though he never broached the topic, I got a sense he was familiar with the show.”
