Emmerdale Daz Spencer star unrecognisable 4 years after exit in Yorkshire Ripper drama
Emmerdale star Daz Spencer, played by Mark Jordan, looked unrecognisable as he returns to screens four years later as a murder suspect in the new Yorkshire Ripper drama, The Long Shadow.
The Yorkshire Ripper has been the subject of many documentaries and dramas since his arrest in 1981, includingNetflix’s The Ripper and an episode of Crimes That Shook Britain. But The Long Shadow focuses less on serial killer Peter Sutcliffe and more on his victims.
Originally planned to be called The Yorkshire Ripper, the series was renamed after negative feedback from victims’ families.
In the new ITV drama, Mark played the role of an innocent taxi driver who finds himself wrapped up in the investigation as he resembled a picture that a surviving victim had drawn of her attacker.
The character had also happened to be in a number of the same locations where the horrific attacks took place.
The actor looked completely different from when he featured on Emmerdale as he was seen with long grey curly hair and looked tired.
Mark first joined the cast of Emmerdale in 2014 for a brief amount of time before leaving and rejoining in 2017. He played the role of cafe waiter Daz before he was sadly written out of the show in January 2019.
During his time on the hit ITV soap, Mark ended up meeting his fiance Laura Norton who played Kerry Wyatt, however they didn’t spark up a romance until a year and a half later.
Laura and Mark struck up a firm friendship on the show before their chemistry turned into romance in 2015, 18 months after Mark left the soap.
Chatting about their romance, Laurapreviously told OK!:“It was about a year and a half later. We hadn’t seen each other since he’d left but we were friends. Then we just started hanging out and before we knew it we were falling for each other. We didn’t want to spoil our friendship. It was a slow burner.”
And Mark added: “When we met, this didn’t seem to be on the cards.”
Romance soon blossomed between the pair and their relationship has continued to go from strength to strength ever since, with Mark popping the question back in 2018 during a lavish holiday to Spain. The duo now share two children together, Jesse born in January 2021 and Ronnie born in October 2022.
