Womens charity cuts ties with Russell Brand after he supported fundraiser
A women's charity has cut ties with comedian Russell Brand after he has been accused of multiple allegations of rape and sexual assault.
The controversial personality, 48, has denied all of the allegations against him, which were made public on Saturday (September 16) as part of a joint investigation between The Times newspaper and Channel 4's Dispatches.
After the claims emerged, Plymouth-based charity Trevi, which supports vulnerable women, has cut ties with Brand – even though his upcoming performance in the city was set to raise thousands for their fundraiser.

In August, it was reported that Brand's performance at Plymouth Pavilions on September 22 in aid of the charity's Blossom Appeal was set to raise £50,000 for the fundraiser's new women-only accommodation.
At the time, according to Plymouth Live, Russell said he was "so pleased" to support the charity, saying he was "committed to helping them fundraise to open a new house".
Now, as per Plymouth Live, Trevi released a statement which said they were "deeply saddened and upset by the stories reported on Channel 4 Dispatches programme regarding Russell Brand".
The statement continued: "Russell became aware of our charity in 2022 after hearing about some of the incredible mothers we have helped to become drug-free over the years. He wanted to support our cause and raise money through his Stay Free Foundation.
"Today's media revelations have been difficult to process but our priority remains and continues to be the safety and well-being of all women and girls now and in the future. We have ended our association with Russell Brand and the Stay Free Foundation."
It concluded: "As a charity whose values put women's voices at the heart of what we do, we always prioritise supporting women affected by violence and abuse and empower them to live without violence and fear. We understand that for some women, today's media content could be triggering, and for those who may need support, please contact The Survivor Pathway."
Russell released his own video statement on Friday (September 15) before the allegations were made public, in which he denied everything.
Brand said: "Amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute.
"These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies, and as I've written about extensively in my books I was very, very promiscuous.
"Now during that time of promiscuity the relationships I had were absolutely, always consensual."
He added: "It's worth mentioning there are witnesses whose evidence directly contradicts the narratives these two mainstream outlets are trying to construct, apparently in what seems to me to be a co-ordinated attack.
"I don't want to get into this any further because of the serious nature of the allegations but I feel like I'm being attacked and plainly they are working very closely together."
