Julie Andrews once recalled how she had a front-row seat to a rather wild Hollywood orgy scene in the ‘70s.
The usually clean-cut icon is renowned for her family films like Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music. But Julie had a much more racy career than most people would realise.
In 1981, Julie stripped off for a topless scene in S.O.B, and she even performed a striptease in the 1970 flick Darling Lili. And according to Julie herself, she even watched a saucy orgy be directed by none other than her husband.

Over 40 years ago, in 1979, Julie, who celebrates her 88th birthday on Sunday (October 1), starred in the adult comedy 10. The movie was directed by her husband Blake Edwards, the man behind the Breakfast at Tiffany's and Pink Panther. Julie co-starred alongside Dudley Moore and the movie also included an orgy scene.
In 2019, Julie spoke about the incident on Ellen DeGeneres’ chat show. The Princess Diaries star was quizzed on whether she and her hubby went to any crazy parties. She noted how they rarely went out – but watching the orgy was something she would always remember.
She revealed: “There was one party that was actually manufactured for the movie 10. I think my character in 10 had to look through a telescope and see that my boyfriend, sweet Dudley Moore, was in fact invading a neighbour's house when they were having an orgy.”
Julie then added how her husband was directing the orgy scene one day – and quickly called her up to tell her to head over to see it. She revealed: “He said, ‘Julie, you’ve just gotta come on over here, it’s an unbelievable sight.’ So I went dashing over.
“What Blake had done was hire an awful lot of people who really are very at ease doing orgy films, I guess. I walked in and everyone was stark naked and lying around, very happily and casually, treating it totally normally."

She went on: "And there was sweet Dudley in the middle of it all and he wasn’t very, very tall. Blake put him between two enormously statuesque ladies and so he was completely naked and these two ladies were naked, but their bums were up here and little Dudley was down there.”
Julie didn’t strip off for her role in 10 – but she did go topless in 1981 movie S.O.B which was also directed by her husband. Near the end of the film, Julie’s character Sally Miles pulls down the top of her dress and reveals all.
Talking about it on the Graham Norton show, she said: "I had to go topless, but it was very legitimate in the script." Graham then mused how her team must have told her not to do the scene. Julie replied: 'I'd done an awful lot by then and it took ten years to get the movie made, so I'd had ten years to think about it."
