Adrian Chiles makes unusual gravestone request as he pays homage to his urinal
TV star Adrian Chiles wants a urinal-shaped gravestone when he croaks it.
The former The One Show presenter, 56, reckons it would be the perfect way to permanently mark his life. He was a wee bit baffled when he went viral last year after revealing his bathroom boasts a porcelain urinal.
It sits below a stained glass window featuring West Brom’s crest, an alteration which he reckons has changed his life. He said: "I give it an affectionate pat every day."

Asked whether he thought it might be mentioned in his obituary, Adrian quipped: "There’s a thought. I might get a urinal-shaped gravestone."
The outrage over his home urinal still tickles the presenter. He sent the internet into meltdown after claiming the "receptacle" was far superior to a bog. Adrian said: "It’s just bizarre. I was surprised, but it wasn’t the first time I mentioned it.
"I mentioned it on the telly, I’d talked about it on the radio, it just wasn’t a secret. It’s funny. It’s like a tipping point. Suddenly, it became a thing.
"It was like suddenly someone found out I was a West Brom fan. 'He’s a West Brom fan? Never.’ I thought everybody knew this."
The star wrote about his urinal last April, saying: "I’m very proud of it. I’m a great enthusiast for urinals in the home. This is an enthusiasm shared by very few people, especially women, who have been known to retch at the very sight of it.
"This baffles me. Many a chap has been chastised about his incompetent use of conventional toilets – poor aim, not putting the seat down, and so on.
"Well, here’s the answer: a receptacle at the correct height for ease of use, which is neat, tidy, clean and flushable. It changed my life. Gentlemen – or anyone with a penis – trust me: it is wonderful to have a toilet of one’s own," he explained.
Adrian has two grown-up daughters who he shares with ex-wife Jane Garvey. He is currently in a relationship with The Guardian editor Katharine Viner since 2019, however they probably aren't as keen on the groundbreaking idea like Adrian is.
When Adrian released his urinal inspired article last year, he had a mixed review from readers. One fan seemed to like the column and said: "Every other columnist in the British media walked so Adrian Chiles could run."
While others weren't so enthusiastic. One reader took to social media and said: "Logged on, saw Adrian Chiles’ urinal, logged off."
