Rice is a staple in many of our diets.
It's goes well in a variety of different dishes – whether you're whipping up a curry, chilli con carne or jerk chicken.
Despite cooking it regularly, it can be surprisingly tricky to get right though. Rice can easily clump together, go gloopy or completely dry out.

But thankfully, Jamie Oliver has shared his "foolproof, hassle-free way to cook rice" that's "light" and "fluffy" in texture.
Apparently, it's "super easy" to do – and you won't need a rice cooker or any fancy equipment. So here are the simple steps you need to follow…
Jamie Oliver's 'foolproof' guide to cooking rice
1. Put a large pot of salted water on a high heat
2. As it comes to the boil, rinse your rice in a colander until the water runs clear. This gets rid of some of the starch, preventing grains sticking together and getting gloopy
3. Add 350g of basmati rice and wait for them to start bubbling. Then, boil for five minutes
4. Drain the rice in the colander and cover with tin foil
5. Put 2.5cm of water into the pan, bringing to the boil and then dropping to a simmer
6. Place the rice-filled colander on top, allowing it to steam for eight to ten minutes
7. Then you're ready to serve!
