Spend a Day in the Life of Roger Federer as He Celebrated On’s Newest Expansion into Tennis
Ahead of the 2023 US Open, Swiss sportswear brand On and Roger Federer kicked off a new era in tennis for the brand. The sports apparel and footwear label began by cementing itself in the realm of running, providing top-tier, performance-maximizing products to athletes. Now, On is setting out to capture a new generation of fans through the sport of tennis.
On’s first tennis shoe, THE ROGER Pro, launched in 2021, but the brand and Federer have now expanded that collection to seven different models, featuring the retro-fueled lifestyle sneaker, The ROGER Clubhouse Mid. This will lead into the brand’s 2024 debut of its first-ever tennis apparel.

Launching its expansion into tennis one step further, the brand hosted a community-centered event at Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn on August 23, 2023 — which serves as just the beginning of a new chapter for the brand and its fans. “We’re partnering with the best in the game. We’re bringing innovative, high-performance footwear and apparel to a sport that’s eager for newness. We’re creating memorable experiences for our fans. And we’re just getting started,” said Marc Maurer, On Co-CEO.
In March, On announced new partnerships with top players Świątek, Shelton, and Brazilian athlete João Fonseca. Each of them plays a significant role in advancing On’s prowess in the tennis industry – the two, along with Federer, are instrumental in the design and testing of On’s new product innovations.1 of 42 of 43 of 44 of 4
After two years of research, development, and testing with Federer, the brand is ready to bring high-performance footwear and apparel to tennis players and fans. To kick off the brand’s further foray into tennis, Hypebeast spent a Day in the Life with Federer as he joined On to launch new footwear and surprise fans. First, he headed to the new On store in Williamsburg to greet shoppers, before heading to lunch, and then meeting Świątek and Shelton at Fort Greene for some tennis. Ahead of an evening afterparty, Federer swapped out The ROGER Spins for his perforated ROGER Centre Courts, an everyday option for those on the go. “It’s always great to meet fans and share my love of tennis,” the tennis icon reflects.
