Sharon Osbourne has said that despite her best efforts, she is unable to put weight back on after taking Ozempic.
The former X Factor judge and wife of rockstar Ozzy Osbourne has been open about her noticeable weight loss in recent months.
She’s admitted to using Ozempic, a drug offered as a treatment for people with type 2 diabetes, but which some have been using to lose weight.
Earlier this week Sharon said she ‘didn’t want to go this thin’ and has now said she’s struggling to regain the 30 pounds she’s lost.
Appearing on Talk TV this week, she spoke emotionally about having a gastric band, a gastric sleeve and taking diet drugs after struggling with her weight in the past.
‘There isn’t one [I haven’t tried],’ she shared.
‘My entire life and I’m seventy, I have fought weight, my entire life.
‘It’s affected my life to such a point. I had the gastric band, and had that removed, because it didn’t work after a while. I then had the sleeve and you can’t reverse the sleeve because they cut your stomach in half… it is what it is. You are stuck with that.’
Sharon then continued: ‘After a while, it’s all up here [in your mind]. It’s all mental.’
She then went to reveal that taking Ozempic had an unexpected side effect.
‘Now it’s got a reverse effect on me personally, I don’t know for everybody, I’m sure not. But I can’t put on weight now, no matter whatever I eat,’ she explained.
‘I’m stuck at this weight. And it’s like, my entire life I’ve wanted to be a certain weight, never got there, and now I have and it doesn’t suit me and I don’t like it and I can’t change it.’
She concluded: ‘The thing about weight it’s a personal thing… for me it caused depression.’
While Ozempic is meant to only be used for people with diabetes, there is now a shortage sparked by others trying to secure a supply.
However, Sharon has previously said she didn’t want her use of it to be a ‘dirty little secret’.
She also insisted using Ozempic to lose weight wasn’t ‘cheating’, and that people should ‘lighten up’ about the use of the drug.
