Father Ted creator Graham Linehan revealed he had been dropped by his agent after his comments about David Tennant.

The 55-year-old TV writer branded the Doctor Who actor, 52, an ‘abusive groomer’ on Twitter – now known as X – in July after he wore a t-shirt that read, ‘Leave trans kids alone you absolute freaks’.

Describing David as ‘disgusting’, ‘ignorant’ and ‘reckless’, Graham explained that he had been let go by Independent Talent to a Conservative Party Conference event in Manchester.

Taking place on Sunday at the ThinkTent in the Manchester Central Convention Complex, the event was called Is the UK a safe space for free speech?

According to MailOnline, he said: ‘I guess the other interesting thing that happened to me is I just lost my TV agent because I criticised David Tennant.

‘I only found this out later, because I looked at the list of people Independent Talent represented and David Tennant was at the top.

‘And he’s making slightly more money than me at the moment, so I had to go.’

The writer has previously become known for his stance on transgender activism, which led to the star being banned from Twitter and his Edinburgh Fringe show to being shut down.

Graham is part of a school of thought that is known for their beliefs on gender transition and labels those who support the transition of youngsters as child abusers.

He tweeted to his followers last January: ‘Telling children they have the wrong bodies is child abuse.’

The writer’s dispute with David first began in July when the actor showed up at the press launch for the second series of his Amazon Prime fantasy comedy show Good Omens in London.

David was wearing the t-shirt in question that was commented on online with the full message being discovered by internet sleuths.

The publication reported that a Twitter user called K Carnelian – who used the handle @authenticterf – shared a picture of David in the item of clothing and captioned the shot, ‘FFS’.

Fans then spotted the writer’s heated reply which read: ‘Disgusting, ignorant, reckless’ followed by another note, ‘Only disgraced among the ranks of abusive groomers like yourself and Tennant’.

Metro.co.uk contacted Independent Talent and David and Graham’s reps for comment.
