Danniella Westbrook did 11 bags of coke per day ahead of Celebrity Big Brother

Former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook has revealed she was doing “11 bags of gear a day” before her stint on Celebrity Big Brother in 2016.

The 49-year-old actress opened up about the extreme extent of her drug addiction whilst speaking on the Anything Goes with James English podcast.

Explaining that “no one” knew how bad her struggles had gotten at the time she recalled her children’s reaction to her appearing on the reality show.

She said: “I do feel for my kids. When I went on Big Brother my kids were thinking, ‘Oh my God how’s she going to be?’

“Because I went on there doing 11 grams of gear [cocaine] a day. I ain’t going to lie, no one knows that.

“I was doing 11 bags of gear a day then they walked me through that f**king door and I went …

“And my son and everyone went ‘oh God’,” she added.

Danielle’s addiction to cocaine was so severe that her septum fell out, causing her to need reconstructive surgery.

One year on from Celebrity Big Brother, Danniella tragically experienced a relapse, telling Now magazine: “I’m an addict and the wheels fell off.

“I was dabbing cocaine in my mouth and rubbing it around my gums to numb the pain.

“People think I was hoovering cocaine up my nose again but I wasn’t. I was wiping it around my gums.”

Danniella became an overnight household name as Sam Mitchell in EastEnders when she was just 16 years old.

She first appeared on the BBC soap for a few years at a time: first in 1990, again in 1995 and then one more time in 1999 after bosses decided to give her another chance despite her drug use causing problems on set.

Danniella also appeared on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2003 and Dancing On Ice in 2010.
