The Call of Duty<\/em> franchise will apparently be staying in the Black Ops<\/em> universe for its next two releases, as a new report from Insider Gaming<\/em> indicates that 2025’s Call of Duty<\/em> release will be a sequel to 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II<\/em>. The title, currently codenamed “Saturn,” features a single-player storyline set in 2030 and a multiplayer experience that offers a mixture of new maps and remade classics from Black Ops II<\/em>.<\/p>\n This 2025 release will mark the second consecutive game from the Black Ops<\/em> universe, as 2024’s Call of Duty<\/em> release is a separate Black Ops<\/em> game that’s set in the ’90s around the Gulf War. Little more is known about the forthcoming game, but the same reports indicate that it will feature a “rebuilt movement system,” the same “Pick 10” multiplayer perks-and-attachments setup as Black Ops II<\/em> and a classic round-based Zombies mode. The above-mentioned mixture of maps new and old could well be owing to the recent negative feedback around Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III<\/em>‘s multiplayer launch, which only offered remakes of maps from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II<\/em> upon its launch. <\/p>\n Don’t be surprised if you see more leaks from this yet-unnamed title or others in the coming months as well: back in October, Activision announced that the Call of Duty<\/em> franchise had already been planned out through 2027.
