Robbie Williams has revealed that he was close to death during the height of his drink and drug addiction and admitted he’d take “anything I could get my hands on”.<\/p>\n

The Angels singer, who has now been clean for over 20 years, said there was a time he didn’t sleep for six days while on a bender with a drug dealer pal during the height of his fame.<\/p>\n

The singer rose to fame back in the 1990s in Take That alongside Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Howard Donald.<\/p>\n

Five years later, he decided to step away to embark on a solo career.<\/p>\n

During the dark time of his career, Robbie, 49, admitted: \u201cI thought I could snort the most, take the most pills, drink the most and I thought that was a superpower at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t know that was my fast-track to death. You feel like you\u2019re indestructible, I didn\u2019t feel I was going to die.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s only subsequently I realise I was close,” he added to The Sun.<\/p>\n

Robbie was no stranger to loving booze during his heyday, but admits he managed to keep the extent of his addiction mostly away from the public eye.<\/p>\n

One incident left him vomiting “black bile” before the band’s first MTV awards which led to a doctor injecting him.<\/p>\n

When back in London, the singer said it was then he realised he was an “alcoholic” and an “addict”.<\/p>\n
