Cat Footwear reunites with British designer Nigel Cabourn for new collaboration, seeing their unique workwear-meets-military aesthetic on two winter-ready footwear iterations.

As seen in their previous installment, a shared passion for historic events has led to research and storytelling playing a big role in the brands’ work together. While the last drop focused on World War II military machinery, the latest collaboration draws inspiration from Caterpillar Inc.’s hailed 1956 expedition to the Antarctic, commonly known as “Operation Deepfreeze.”

In the collection, the pair combine functional materials, reminiscent of those from the expedition, with Nigel Cabourn’s military-rooted heritage to present two adaptations of their original Omaha and Utah silhouettes.

For the service boot-inspired Omaha, Cat Footwear maintains its signature heavy-duty feel with a chunky engineered outsole made up of a 3D-printed toe cap and mudguard. The upper sees canvas swapped for a quilted nylon, giving the boot added insulation as well as a new industrial look. To finish, Nigel Cabourn designs a webbed lacing system that riffs off its iconic Expedition Parkas.

As the Omaha becomes more technical in its appearance, the reworked Utah poses the opposite with refined panels and minimal components, giving the boot everyday wearability. Without compromising on function, the silhouette conceals a high-quality steel toe and Goodyear welting which sit underneath its multi-layered outer. A new addition to the Utah is the central zip fastening that opens up to a protective drawcord lacing system – a common feature in navy footwear.

Both models come in two military-inspired color options. The Omaha arrives in Olive with Neon Orange laces as well as an all-black colorway, while the Utah drops in a Black Olive and a new Bison palette featuring varying hues of brown.
