{"id":68452,"date":"2023-10-23T10:09:12","date_gmt":"2023-10-23T10:09:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hotcelebon.com\/?p=68452"},"modified":"2023-10-23T10:09:12","modified_gmt":"2023-10-23T10:09:12","slug":"i-lived-abroad-for-free-and-saved-6k-to-fund-my-travels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hotcelebon.com\/lifestyle\/i-lived-abroad-for-free-and-saved-6k-to-fund-my-travels\/","title":{"rendered":"I lived abroad for free and saved \u00a36k to fund my travels"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>I lived abroad for free and saved \u00a36,000 to fund my world travels &#8211; I visited 20 countries by the age of 20<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Lauren Kirby from Kent worked as a childcare representative\u00a0in Greece\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0We&#8217;ve taken our 11-month-old son to 23 countries since he was born &#8211; he&#8217;s the world&#8217;s most well-travelled baby<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A woman lived in Greece and Egypt for free and saved \u00a36,000 to fund more trips &#8211; allowing her to visit 20 countries before turning 20.<\/p>\n<p>Lauren Kirby, 20, from Kent, fell in love with travelling after taking a sabbatical from her work in a nursery.<\/p>\n<p>After seeing an advert for a childcare representative on TikTok\u00a0in August last year, she decided to go for it and flew out to Corfu for three months.<\/p>\n<p>The travel company, TUI, paid for Lauren&#8217;s accommodation, flights, food, and bills and paid her a wage of approximately \u00a3827 per month.<\/p>\n<p>It meant Lauren was able to save around \u00a32,500, which she used to fund her travels to Portugal, Finland and Mexico.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/08\/76882285-12661163-image-a-1_1698047690787.jpg\" height=\"902\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Lauren Kirby (pictured) lived in Greece and Egypt for free while working as a childcare representative and managed to and saved \u00a36,000 to fund more trips &#8211; allowing her to visit 20 countries before turning 20<\/p>\n<p>Lauren set off for Corfu in August 2022 to begin her role as a childcare representative on the Greek island.<\/p>\n<p>She was put up in a beachside apartment for the duration of the trip and could take one and a half days off work each week.<\/p>\n<p>During her days off, Lauren enjoyed time at the beach and exploring the island.<\/p>\n<p>She was often able to finish earlier in the afternoon so she could enjoy full evenings.<\/p>\n<p>Lauren then came home to Kent in October 2022 and resumed work in a nursery.<\/p>\n<p>But the jetsetter wasn\u2019t in the UK for long- and she headed to Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, in February 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Lauren had her accommodation covered again &#8211; and even her medical insurance &#8211; meaning she could save \u00a33,500 to go travelling afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside her work, Lauren also managed to squeeze a trip to see the pyramids.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/09\/76882293-12661163-image-m-12_1698049092301.jpg\" height=\"930\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Just months after working in Corfu, Lauren travelled to Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt to work in the same role and saved \u00a33,500 &#8211; as she was able to put away most of her salary<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/09\/76882273-12661163-image-m-14_1698049116705.jpg\" height=\"963\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Lauren set herself the goal of travelling to 20 countries before she turned 20- and managed it. She has visited beaches across the globe &#8211; and even managed to go horse riding during sunset at the shore\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/09\/76882295-12661163-image-m-16_1698049132269.jpg\" height=\"511\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Lauren fell in love with travelling after taking a sabbatical from her work in a nursery in Maidstone, Kent\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Following her success of working abroad, Lauren set herself a goal of visiting 20 countries before she turned 20.<\/p>\n<p>She has since travelled across Europe, from Italy to Spain, Iceland and more.<\/p>\n<p>Lauren said: &#8216;I loved Portugal and Lake Bled in Finland.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Outside of Europe, she also managed to visit Playa Del Carmen in Mexico as well Florida.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lauren successfully managed to reach her goal of visiting 20 countries before she turned 20.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/09\/76882289-12661163-image-a-17_1698049154001.jpg\" height=\"845\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>In February 2023, Lauren travelled to Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt to work as a childcare representative and saved \u00a33,500<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/09\/76882269-12661163-Lauren_managed_to_squeeze_in_a_trip_to_Dublin_during_her_travels-m-23_1698050767433.jpg\" height=\"748\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Lauren (left) managed to squeeze in a trip to Dublin during her travels, and visited the Guinness factory\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/09\/76882275-12661163-image-m-24_1698050783754.jpg\" height=\"1185\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The jetsetter plans to continue travelling around the globe &#8211; and has booked trips to\u00a0Bali, LA and Australia\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/09\/76882287-12661163-image-m-25_1698050864033.jpg\" height=\"580\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>During her travels, Lauren has stopped off in places all around Europe from Iceland to Austria and Slovenia\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Talking of her travels, Lauren said: \u2018I loved it. I\u2019d recommend it.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;People think travelling is expensive but it doesn&#8217;t have to be.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>She added: &#8216;I didn&#8217;t have to pay my bills or anything.\u00a0I saved all my wages.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>But Lauren has no plans to stop travelling anytime soon.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u2018Everywhere is on my to do list. I\u2019m always on Skyscanner.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Lauren already has trips to Bali, LA and Australia lined up and is keeping her eyes peeled for other seasonal jobs to fund her love of travelling.<\/p>\n<h3>Countries Lauren has visited-\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p>1.
