KING Charles is a secret Trekkie, says Jean-Luc Picard actor Sir Patrick Stewart.<\/p>\n
The 83-year-old, who played the USS Enterprise captain in Star Trek: The Next Generation, reckons the royal is a fan after chatting during several meetings.<\/p>\n

Charles, 74, was 17 when the original \u201cBeam me up, Scotty\u201d TV series launched in 1966. It has since spawned a string of telly spin-offs and a movie franchise.<\/p>\n
In 1996 Charles attended the premiere of Star Trek: First Contact and requested actress Marina Sirtis, who played Deanna Troi, to accompany him to the screening.<\/p>\n
Sir Patrick, also a renowned Shakespearean actor, said: \u201cI am convinced King Charles is a Star Trek fan.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve met him several times when he was the Prince of Wales and, though he never broached the topic, I got a sense he was familiar with the show.\u201d<\/p>\n
