Fiona Bruce sparked concern as she showed up on Question Time with a black eye and her arm in a sling.

The BBC presenter made sure to address her appearance before the show got started, noting that she didn’t look her usual self.

Fiona, 59, was in Wolverhampton to discuss the big political issues of the week.

She told cameras before sitting down with this week’s guests that she had a nasty horse-riding accident.

‘I thought I’d just mention it,’ she said to viewers.

‘It’s the least interesting thing in the programme but in case you’re wondering,’ she remarked.

‘I broke my hand and I’ve got the remnants of a black eye because I fell off a horse.’

Ouch!

‘And that’s all I have to say about that,’ Fiona concluded.

Taking to Twitter during the broadcast, viewers wished Fiona a ‘speedy recovery’ from her injuries.

Ever the pro, Fiona carried on with the show.

She was joined on the panel by transport minister Richard Holden, shadow paymaster general Jonathan Ashworth, writer Emma Dabiri, the executive chairman of Iceland supermarket, Richard Walker, and journalist and author Tony Parsons.

Fiona has fronted Question Time since 2019 when she took over from long-serving host David Dimbleby.

Question Time airs Thursdays on BBC One and iPlayer.

Got a story?

If you’ve got a celebrity story, video or pictures get in touch with the Metro.co.uk entertainment team by emailing us celebtips@metro.co.uk, calling 020 3615 2145 or by visiting our Submit Stuff page – we’d love to hear from you.
