Amanda Abbington experienced a drop towards the end of last week’s performance which went totally unnoticed by Strictly Come Dancing judges, according to pro Brendan Cole.

The 47-year-old New Zealand-born ballroom star had a very candid chat with Sky Bingo about exactly where he thinks the actress went wrong.

“She flagged towards the end, and the judges didn’t pick that up, which I found interesting,” he mused of the Sherlock and Mr Selfridge actress.

“That was one of the key things about her number, it started powerfully, she was amazing [and] she looked fantastic. Then suddenly, it fell off towards the end.”

However, Brendan believes the judges may have been oblivious as they were so blown over by the “fantastic lifts” – and he acknowledges that she and Giovanni Pernice managed “one or two” impressive ones.

It’s not the kind of thing I’d do,” he exclaimed.

“[However, Amanda and Giovanni] got their cheeky laugh and they got there. They got their moment… I do think she did a great number.”

Although Brendan was critical of the pair, he has also spoken out on the importance of not going too far with criticism, citing “mental health” fears for the contestants.

Don’t miss…

We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you.
