A woman has revealed tensions between her neighbours over their cats using her garden as a toilet, with her frustration escalating due to their refusal to do anything about it. <\/p>\n
In a thread on Mumsnet called \u2018Am I Being Unreasonable? (AIBU)\u2019, the userposted voicing her annoyance and distress regarding the cat\u2019s toilet habits. <\/p>\n
\u2018My neighbour\u2019s cats use my garden for a toilet,\u2019 she wrote. <\/p>\n
\u2018I\u2019m sick of having to deal with it; on top of plant pots, in my veg bed, etc. <\/p>\n
\u2018They make no attempt to bury it so it sits there stinky until I pick it up. It properly turns my stomach and spoils my enjoyment of my garden on a daily basis.\u2019<\/p>\n
While the woman is irritated at the cats, she believes the neighbours themselves are more at fault and should at least acknowledge the situation. <\/p>\n
\u2018I know they can\u2019t be kept out or trained not to,\u2019 she continued. \u2018I\u2019d never want to harm them \u2013 they\u2019re just being cats! I\u2019d just like some acknowledgement from neighbour that their choice to keep outdoor cats is causing this.\u2019<\/p>\n
When she spoke to the pet owners asking if they\u2019d be \u2018willing to take a turn dealing with\u2019 the mess left, they refused, arguing that it was an unnecessary task since cats bury their excrement.<\/p>\n
They also told the woman \u2018that\u2019s why they don\u2019t keep [the cats] in, as they don\u2019t want to deal with their litter tray (they were originally indoor only kittens).\u2019<\/p>\n
Seeking advice on the situation, she asked whether she was being unreasonable to be upset \u2013 and Mumsnetters were largely supportive.<\/p>\n
Many said it was the responsibility of the owners to take care of their pet\u2019s droppings, including one user who commented: \u2018I have cats and when our neighbour said they were pooing in his garden we took action to stop them\u2026<\/p>\n
\u2018You can\u2019t just shrug your shoulders about your pets sh***ing all over someone else\u2019s property.\u2019<\/p>\n
Others also pushed for a very forward move to prove a point. <\/p>\n
\u2018Get a beach spade or big old spoon to scoop it up and put over the fence into theirs,\u2019 one user urged, while another added: \u2018If my neighbour\u2019s cats did this I would scoop it up on a spade and fling it over into their garden.\u2019<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, though, some had practical tips to help deter cats from future messes \u2013 and we feel these choices may fare better for the woman.<\/p>\n
\u2018A cat motion activated sprinkler and garden hose is good,\u2019 a commenter advised. \u2018Place bamboo skewers or cutlery upright in the soil \u2013 the cat won\u2019t get comfy position to leave a deposit.\u2019<\/p>\n
