Arnold Schwarzenegger is known for being very active, but the bodybuilding star will have to take things easy for a bit.

New photos show Schwarzenegger, 76, wearing a cast on his arm following surgery.

It’s believed that The Terminator actor had nerve damage in his elbow that required surgery last Thursday.

He now has a protective cast over the entirety of his right arm.

The Austrian and American businessman was seen walking out in California post-op as he begins his recovery.

Wearing a pair of shorts and a grey t-shirt, Arnie looked casual, also wearing long black socks and finishing the look with some shades.

As reported by TMZ, he’s had to tell his gym buddies, ‘I’ll be back’ after his surgery, but he should only be out of action for a week.

The publication adds that Schwarzenegger managed to squeeze in a last-minute workout just hours before going under the knife.

Alas, it seems sunshine strolls will have to be his new exercise regime for the time being!

The former Governor of California has remained incredibly fit into his seventies, most recently starring in a Netflix series called FUBAR, playing a secret CIA operative.

However, he’s not as young as he used to be, recently admitting that he can no longer do his bodybuilding poses in the same way.

Speaking to Men’s Health as the cover star for the magazine’s July/August 2023 Influence Issue, Schwarzenegger was asked whether he can still perfect his classic bodybuilding poses decades later with a new physique.

‘Yes, but only in the bathroom, because sometimes it makes me cry,’ he replied.

Nowadays, the movie star’s motivation to train is different than it used to be.

Instead of bulking up and getting super ripped, he now works out to ‘stay alive’ and ‘to be able to do my movies.’

The much-loved celeb has also been open about his health this year.

Last week, he shared a never-before-seen video from 2018, when he had heart surgery.

He explained that the procedure was meant to be non-invasive and simply a routine op to replace a heart valve.

This is because he was born with a heart defect called aortic stenosis, which causes the heart to pump harder than usual to get blood through the aortic valve.

But something went wrong, resulting in surgeons needing to perform full open-heart surgery after a mistake caused ‘internal bleeding.’

This marked the third time he’s had the major surgery.

‘I was really freaking out,’ he said of the complications.

‘I woke up and all of a sudden the doctors were in front of me saying, “I’m so sorry but it was unlike what we planned”.’
