The\u00a0Graham Norton\u00a0Show has reportedly been thrown into chaos as show bosses are believed to be struggling to secure big names amid the\u00a0Sag-Aftra\u00a0<\/strong>strikes.<\/p>\n In early July\u00a0Hollywood officially went on strike\u00a0<\/strong>after\u00a0US<\/strong>\u00a0union the Screen Actors Guild \u2013 American Federation of Television and Radio Artists voted unanimously to walk out, following weeks of unsuccessful negotiations.<\/p>\n The decision came after negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) \u2013 who represent studios including\u00a0Disney, Warner Brothers and\u00a0Netflix\u00a0\u2013 failed to produce new contracts.<\/p>\n Members have been seeking better pay and increased safeguarding around AI rights among their demands.<\/p>\n Due to this, popular talk shows such as The Graham Norton Show are finding it difficult to secure A-listers who have been showing full solidarity for the writers.\u00a0<\/p>\n A source told\u00a0The Mirror: \u2018The\u00a0BBC\u00a0is in crisis as the Hollywood strikes are causing its flagship chat show an absolute headache for its next run later this year.\u2019<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The insider added that even British stars have refused publicity and promotion \u2018out of solidarity.\u2019<\/p>\n The\u00a0Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists\u00a0represents 160,000 television and movie actors,\u00a0with the strike halting current and upcoming projects.<\/p>\n New seasons of The White Lotus, Emily in Paris, House of the Dragon and Industry could be impacted, while films including Beetlejuice 2, Paddington in Peru and the Gladiator sequel may also be paused.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Just before the strike was confirmed, the cast of Oppenheimer appeared on the red carpet in London for the UK premiere of the film.<\/p>\n The WGA has also raised issues with the rise of streaming and\u00a0Artificial Intelligence (AI)\u00a0threatening the jobs of writers.<\/p>\n The last time there was a writer\u2019s strike was in 2007 when work stopped for 100 days and had massive effects on the economy, costing California alone $2.1 billion (\u00a31.6 billion).<\/p>\n Many famous faces have thrown their support behind the strikes, including Tom Hanks,\u00a0Pete Davidson,\u00a0Drew Barrymore, and\u00a0US President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n Metro.co.uk has reached out to BBC for comment.<\/em><\/p>\n The Graham Norton Show is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Got a story?<\/strong><\/p>\n If you\u2019ve got a celebrity story, video or pictures get in touch with the Metro.co.uk entertainment team by emailing us celebtips@metro.co.uk, calling 020 3615 2145 or by visiting our Submit Stuff page \u2013 we\u2019d love to hear from you.<\/p>\n
