Kourtney Kardashian has opened up about howdoctors saved the life of her unborn son after she underwent \u201curgent fetal surgery\u201d. The announcement came after her husband, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, 47, was forced to return home to America on an"urgent family matter" last week.<\/p>\n

44 year old Kourtney,who announced that she was expecting a baby with Travis while at a Blink-182 concert back in June, took to Instagram to thank the doctors for their help and spoke about the \u201cfear\u201d that she felt after being taken to hospital. <\/p>\n

\u201cI will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby\u2019s life,\u201d she wrote alongside a black and white picture of her and Travis\u2019 hands.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn\u2019t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery.\u201d<\/p>\n

The post continued: \u201cI don\u2019t think anyone who hasn\u2019t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant.<\/p>\n

\u201cPraise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n

According toMayoClinic, foetal surgery is a procedure that is performed on a foetus in the uterus to \u201chelp improve the long-term outcome of children with specific birth defects\u201d. <\/p>\n

It is also performed by a team of medical experts to help treat and improve conditions before the baby is born.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile,Cleveland Clinic adds that the technique used by surgeons for the procedure depends on the circumstances, though techniques include open surgery, fetoscopic surgery and surgery at delivery. <\/p>\n

Kourtney\u2019s post comes aftershe and Travis were spotted leaving a Los Angeles hospital on Saturday 2 September, and getting into a black SUV with security following behind them. <\/p>\n

Travis was seen wearing a black T-shirt with white sleeves with a white T-shirt over it which he paired with some black ripped jeans and a pair of black trainers.<\/p>\n

Kourtney opted for a grey matching co-ord which she wore with chunky grey trainers, and a pair of sunglasses.<\/p>\n

A source toldPeople magazine that she was"back home now with her kids", that she's "feeling better" and "happy to have Travis back home too".<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
