Simon Cowell has opened up about his mental health struggles, revealing that he's suffered from depression for a number of years.

The 63-year-old music mogul has shared that his mental health reached a low-point during the Covid-19 pandemic, when he was left in a constant state of anxiety after a friend of his became quite ill with the disease.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the Britain's Got Talent judge said: "In the very, very, very early stages, some friends of mine got really ill and I’m talking about really ill.

"So, I thought, ‘God, if I catch this, maybe the same thing’s going to happen to me, Eric and Lauren."

"I didn’t know what was true or not [on the news], I just didn’t have a clue other than I was petrified about catching it. Just petrified."

Staying in LA with fiancée Lauren Silverman, and their son Eric, Simon recalled how he "didn’t see anybody" for months during the pandemic, aside from the occasional visitor, who had to be tested for the virus before being allowed in.

And although he rarely went out or had visitors, the TV talent judge shared that he was left so "petrified" by the disease that he was tested "about a thousand times."

Following this time, Simon began attending therapy which he says has worked wonders for his mental health and both his personal and professional life – adding that he doesn't even check his show's ratings anymore.

It comes after Simon revealed that he was left "traumatised" following a break-in at his £45 million mansion in Holland Park, which has led to him deciding to sell the property and move to another country.

Simon said at the time: “There is a constant fear it may be repeated and that it may be worse next time. I'm very scared of what could have happened to my son if the burglar had gone into his room."

And the Daily Mail then reported the TV star has decided to move after telling friends that he “no longer feels safe” in Central London.

Along with moving house, Simon has been preparing for another potential life change, revealing that he'd like to have another baby with Lauren.

Simon previously said: “Being a dad is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love every second I spend with him."

And discussing being a dad again in his 60s, he added: "I am 64 this year, and Eric's nine… and when I’m playing football with him, my God, I have to get fit just to play with him! His energy is off the chart, it really, really is."
