No-nonsense Anne has always seemed a model of self-reliance and has made a success of most things she’s done – from her achievements as an Olympic standard horse rider to her life as a front-line royal.

But nothing seems to have given Anne more satisfaction than her role as a grandmother.

Body language expert Judi James has suggested that her grandchildren appear to be ‘among the happiest, most fearless, playful and joyful children in the Royal Family’.

Meanwhile, a source previously revealed that Anne is a fun-loving matriarch , who encourages her grandchildren to make mischief.

‘Anne loves to play games with them, the messier the better.

‘Her influence on the little ones is clearly shown in the fact they’re country girls who love getting filthy and mucking about.’

As these pictures demonstrate…

Savannah great-grandchildren, having been born on December 29, 2010, in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

Her name was not immediately announced, and was first revealed publicly during a church service in Sandringham when the reverend reportedly shared a prayer for ‘Peter and Autumn Phillips and their daughter Savannah.’

While she is 18th in line to the British throne, she doesn’t have an official royal title because her father, Peter Phillips, never received one.

Savannah made her balcony debut in 2017 alongside her younger sister, Isla, and the pair were spotted playing with Prince George and Princess Charlotte during the annual Trooping the Colour parade.

In October 2018, Savannah, along with her sister and cousins, served as a bridesmaid in Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank.

Savannah and Prince George of Cambridge playing around as they watch the flypast on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during in 2019 and divorced in 2020.

In a statement, they said, ‘The couple’s first priority will remain the continued well-being and upbringing of their wonderful daughters Savannah and Isla.’ They announced they will both remain in Gloucestershire to co-parent the girls.

When the divorce was finalized in 2021, the couple said in a statement, ‘While this is a sad day of Peter and Autumn, they continue to put the wellbeing and upbringing of their wonderful daughters Savannah and Isla first and foremost.’

Isla Phillips, 11

Peter Phillips gives his daughter with their cousin Lena Tindall

Born at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, weighing 7lbs 4oz during the Queen’s milestone Jubilee year, it’s no surprise that Isla’s second name is Elizabeth in honour of her grandmother.

At the time, the palace released a statement saying the Queen and her family were ‘delighted’ by her arrival.

‘The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Autumn’s family have been informed and are delighted with the news,’ read the announcement.

‘Isla Elizabeth is the second child for Peter and Autumn, the second grandchild for the Princess Royal and the second great-grandchild for the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.’

The younger daughter of the Queen’s eldest grandson is 19th in line to the throne, and enjoys all the comforts of being part of the extended royal family, without the pressure of a life of duties ahead of her.

Savannah and Isla Phillips at the 700-acre Gatcombe Park Estate, Isla and her older sister are in close proximity to their Tindall cousins – Mia, Lena and Lucas.

Although they’re growing up out of the spotlight, the Phillips sisters are recognisable from their attendance at royal events, such as the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – and they’re known for adding a touch of mischief to formal royal occasions.

At Princess Eugenie’s wedding in October 2018, for instance, Savannah entertained Prince George by imitating the trumpet fanfare to announce the arrival of the Queen, as he looked on in fits of giggles.

With only 15 months between Isla and her older sister Savannah, it’s no surprise the pair are growing up with a close bond.

However, the girls encountered some difficulties in their young lives after their parents Peter and Autumn announced they were separating.

Princess Anne with Mia, Savannah and Isla during the 2019 Festival of British Eventing

Mia and Isla construction company boss – and Savannah and Isla on a Mother’s Day outing to the Cirencester horse trials last year.

Meanwhile, Peter has found happiness with oil heiress girlfriend Lindsay Wallace.

Despite the fact that the Phillips family lives a fairly low-key life, Isla is present at certain royal events, including Trooping the Colour most years.

Isla made her eldest daughter of Zara Philips and Mike Tindall, was born on January 17, 2014, at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester.

Buckingham Palace announced the news, and a few days later, her father shared their newborn’s name via X, formally known as Twitter.

While Mia never received an official title, she is still considered an integral part of the royal family and is 22nd in line to the British throne, following her mother Zara in the line of succession.

Children of the daughter of a monarch are not ‘entitled to the rank of ‘Her Royal Highness,’ and when Mia’s mother Zara was born in 1981, her parents, Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, declined to give her a title.

So, since neither her mother nor her father has a royal rank, Mia does not either.

Mia is the third grandchild of Princess Anne and the fourth great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth.

Zara Tindall walks hand in hand with her eldest daughter Mia Tindall at Gatcombe Park in 2019

Mia sticks her tongue out at Charlie Meade, son of event rider Harry Meade, as they attend the Whatley Manor Horse Trials in September 2017

As the daughter of two professional athletes, it comes as no surprise that the young royal is a natural when it comes to sports.

According to have father, Mike, she enjoys horse riding with her cousins Savannah and Isla.

Mike said: ‘I love that they have the opportunity of working with animals, being outside, all the traditions that you learn with treating an animal.

‘Looking after your stuff, looking after the animals and learning good balance, all those skills you learn.’

She also loves to swim, her mother Zara shared of travelling to Australia, ‘Mia loves swimming. Of course, the climate allows you to be able to go swimming all day every day.’

Mia shows who is the true family sportswoman as she plays football with her dad Mike Tindall following a Battle of the Balls fundraiser football match in January 2022

Prince Louis, Mia and Princess Charlotte at the Platinum Pageant on The Mall in June 2022

The eldest Tindall stole the show in 2016 in a portrait released in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday when she held the monarch’s famous black Launer handbags.

Opening up during an appearance on Good Morning Britain, her father revealed how the adorable moment happened ‘at the right time’ because his daughter was being ‘a bit naughty’.

He also revealed that toddler Mia is already very outgoing, something which her parents welcome.

‘She’s got quite a little personality on her, and we encourage that,’ he said.

Mia began appearing more regularly with her parents and fellow royals in 2022, and she was in attendance for the Service of Thanksgiving for her great-grandfather, Prince Philip and the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Lena Tindall, five

Lena Tindall enjoys an ice cream despite the rain, on day two of the Festival of British Eventing

The Tindall’s second child at the traditional Easter Sunday Mattins Service at St George’s Chapel in April

Lena, Zara and Mike Tindall’s middle child and second daughter was born June 18, 2019, at the Stroud Maternity Unit in Gloucestershire, weighing 9lbs 3oz.

She is currently 23rd in line to the British throne, behind her sister Mia and ahead of her brother Lucas in the official line of succession.

However, the children of the daughter of a monarch do not get titles.

In an official announcement, Buckingham Palace said: ‘Mrs Michael Tindall was safely delivered of a baby girl on 18th June, at Stroud Maternity Unit.

‘Mr Tindall was present at the birth. The weight of the baby was 9lbs 3oz.

‘The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Mr Philip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news. The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course.

A young Lena was pictured playing on a bouncy castle at Gatcombe Park in August 2019

Lena rides on a carousel as she attends day two of the 2022 Festival of British Eventing

‘This baby is the second child for Zara and Mike, the fourth grandchild for The Princess Royal and the seventh great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.’

Just over a week after her birth, a family spokesperson finally revealed her name: Lena Elizabeth Tindall.

While an unconventional choice for a member of the Royal Family, Lena is loosely connected to another royal, Princess Helena, the fifth child of Queen Victoria.

Her middle name pays tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, her great-grandmother.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended Lena’s christening at St Nicholas Church in Cherington, Gloucestershire in March 2019. It was also reported that the Duke of Sussex was chosen as the young royal’s godfather.

Mike Tindall pictured throwing his youngest daughter Lena Tindall into the air playfully

Lena made her first official appearance with the British royal family during the Platinum Jubilee in 2022, where she joined her older sister and many of her royal cousins at the Platinum Jubilee Pageant in the royal box.

And while five might seem quite young for a girl to play rugby, it’s only to be expected that Lena has taken up the oval ball with gusto.

Her father explained that Lena, his youngest daughter, plays rugby with their local under-sixes.

‘It’s always hard through winter when it’s cold to get them out the door. They love it when they get there but every rugby parent will know that battle.’

Lucas Tindall, two

Lucas Tindall, who is just as outgoing as his sisters, pictured playing on a trampoline

Zara and her son Lucas petting a horse during the 2022 Festival of British Eventing

Lucas Tindall is the youngest child of Zara and Mike, having been born on March 21, 2021, at 6pm at their home in Gatcombe Park, Gloucestershire.

However, the young royal made quite the unconventional entrance into the world, according to his father on The Good, The Bad & The Rugb‪y‬ podcast.

He said: ‘Sunday got even better because a little baby boy arrived at my house.’

He added that little Lucas, ‘arrived very quickly. Didn’t make it to hospital. On the bathroom floor,

‘So yeah, it was running to the gym, get a mat, get into the bathroom, get the mat on the floor, towels down, brace, brace, brace.’

Lucas Tindall is the youngest child of Zara and Mike but still enjoys family events

Lucas Philip was named after his great-grandfather Prince Philip and Mike’s father Philip Tindall.

He is the late Queen Elizabeth’s tenth great-grandchild and at 24th place, is the last person listed on the line of succession on the Royal Family’s website.

However, there are people that follow him.

Lucas made his first official appearance in April 2022 at his great-grandmother’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
