It’s been 17 years since Guy Goma was somehow mistaken for an IT expert and interviewed on BBC News. He’s now threatening to sue the broadcaster.

In 2006, Goma immediately became a viral sensation when he unwittingly found himself being grilled live on air despite only entering the BBC offices for a job interview.

He was waiting in the reception area of the BBC Television Centre while actual IT expert Guy Kewney was waiting to be led to the studios in another waiting room.

When Goma’s name was called he just assumed it was for his job interview but minutes later his face was on televisions around the world.

Having absolutely no knowledge of IT, Goma clearly looked panicked as he tried to power through a discussion with presenter Karen Bowerman about a legal battle between Apple Computers and the Apple Corps record company.

Goma was completely clueless but did predict music would be released online only which with the exception of vinyl and the resurgence in the cassette’s popularity is basically true.
