EMOTIONAL tributes have poured in as former Whitesnake guitarist, Bernie Marsden, has died age 72.<\/p>\n

The iconic musician sadly passed away on Thursday evening with his family around him.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

A full statement from Bernie's family read: "On behalf of his family, it is with deep sadness we announce the death of Bernie Marsden. Bernie died peacefully on Thursday evening with his wife, Fran, and daughters, Charlotte and Olivia, by his side. <\/p>\n

"Bernie never lost his passion for music, writing and recording new songs until the end."<\/p>\n

Over the past year Bernie had suffered several health scares after undergoing an operation in June 2022. <\/p>\n

Fans were hopeful when the legendary player said on social media he was hoping to be "back to square one" soon, following a "difficult" time.<\/p>\n

However Bernie was forced to cancel shows earlier this year due to poor health.<\/p>\n

The guitarist co-wrote some of his band's most well-known hits, such as Here I Go Again and Fool For Your Loving. <\/p>\n

He was born in 1951, in Buckingham, England and went on to become recognised as one of the greatest rock and blues guitarists of all time.<\/p>\n

The legend has played alongside the some of the most highly regarded in the industry including Robert Plant, Paul Weller, Jon Lord,and Gary Moore<\/p>\n

He was also part of the Ringo Starr Band, and created with Cozy Powell, Rory Gallagher, Jack Bruce, Warren Haynes, and Joe Bonamassa.<\/p>\n

But, the iconic musician was also respected as a solo artist in his own right, before and after leaving Whitesnake. <\/p>\n

Heartfelt tributes have poured in following the sad news of his passing.<\/p>\n

One heartbroken fan penned: "We'll miss you Bernie."<\/p>\n

"Rest easy, my dear friend," wrote another.<\/p>\n

"One of the greatest, hope he\u2019s jamming with Jon Lord in Heaven xx", said another fan.<\/p>\n

Someone else wrote: "Sad news – Met and Saw Bernie live on a many occasions – always happy to chat true gent and true guitar god will be sadly missed but leaves a great legacy."<\/p>\n
