Coronation Street had been building up a romance between Seb (played by Harry Visinioni) and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) for quite some time now. Following feeling claustrophobic in her relationship with Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey), Nina believed she had found someone special in Seb. But sadly, it wasn’t meant to be as they were both viciously beaten up in a hate crime attack.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Coronation Street.

Seb and Nina decided to take the long walk home after returning a set of keys back to a warehouse.

On their way, they came across Corey Brent (Maximus Evans), one of his friends, as well as Summer (Harriet Bibby) and Kelly (Millie Gibson).

Nina didn’t like the thought of leaving the girls with older boys who were drinking so stayed to make sure they were alright.

Summer left not too long after when the boys started taking the mick out of Nina but Kelly stayed.

Nina then tried to speak to Kelly but when she was encouraged by Corey, she slapped the talented goth across the face.

Seb and Nina quickly chose to leave at this point but the group followed the couple and ambushed them from behind.

They pushed them to the ground, with Nina able to get up and run off with some of the bullies chasing after her.

Seb, however, wasn’t able to and sustained a beating, resulting in a serious head injury.

Sadly, Nina and his mum Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) who was excited to marry Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) were

left devastated as Seb died in hospital as a result of the attack.

Why did Harry Visinioni leave Coronation Street?

According to Visinioni, it wasn’t originally his idea to leave Coronation Street at this time but didn’t want to turn down the opportunity for the storyline when it was put to him.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, he said: “We had a meeting with Ian McLeod, the producer of the show, just to discuss potential avenues of safety and going forward in that.

“It got suggested as an option and I kind of decided that it’s an end for the character and a storyline that I’d love to be a part of and it’s worth waiting for me to wave goodbye to Seb.”

Unlike some characters who have stayed in the drama for decades, this was never the plan for Visinioni.

He said: “The thing is I never intended to stay in the show forever.

“And while I was there it was always kind of a goal of mine to play a major part in a story that is as big as this is for the show kind of thing.

“So when it came through the doors it wasn’t really something that I could pass up really.”

Next week, the drama will continue to show the aftermath of Seb’s death on his loved ones.

Will Nina feel responsible for her boyfriend’s death and how will Abi cope with the loss of her son?

Talking of leaving the cobbles for good, Visinioni added: “I’ve never been outside of Corrie, I’ve gone from straight out of college so obviously it’s kind of like going from a boy to a man.

“I think outside of Coronation Street, I’ve grown so much and inside I’ve learnt about you know, TV and just everything, it’s been an incredible education.”

Coronation Street is available to watch weekdays on ITV.
