Where are Selling Sunset’s former cast members now – from new baby to Hollywood
The highly anticipated sixth season of Selling Sunset has finally arrived, and fans are in for a surprise. As the doors of The Oppenheim Group swing open once again, viewers will notice some notable absences. The departure of Christine Quinn, who made a dramatic exit in the previous season's finale, has left a void that cannot be ignored. Fellow cast member Vanessa Villela's absence is equally conspicuous, as she is not even mentioned throughout the new season.
With the notable absences of Christine Quinn, Vanessa Villela, and original cast member Maya Vander, the departure of these familiar faces has undoubtedly brought about a shift in dynamics, leaving viewers eager to uncover the reasons behind their exits and whether there is a possibility of their reappearance.
Christine Quinn
Throughout the first five seasons of Selling Sunset, Christine Quinn undeniably left a lasting impression with her fashion choices, fiery conflicts, and razor-sharp wit. Fans of the show were disappointed to learn that Christine would not be gracing the screens for season 6. However, her absence from the reality series hasn't hindered her from making significant strides in her career.
Since bidding farewell to Selling Sunset, Christine embarked on an exciting journey by establishing a new real estate brokerage alongside her husband, Christian Dumontet. Their brainchild, RealOpen, revolutionises property transactions by offering clients the option to purchase real estate using cryptocurrency.
Alongside her real estate endeavours, Christine has also broken into the fashion industry, walking the runway for Balenciaga during Couture Week, alongside the likes of Nicole Kidman and Kim Kardashian and has even hinted that she’d be interested in pursuing acting.
Speaking toThe Hollywood Reporter, Christine said: “I’m not saying I am Lady Gaga, but the fact that she can do these really big roles and pull it off, whether it’s American Horror Story or A Star Is Born , I want to do things like that.”
Vanessa Villela
With her arrival in season 4 of Selling Sunset, Vanessa Villela made the career switch from acting to real estate. However, fans were taken aback when she did not make an appearance in season 6, with her absence going unaddressed by her fellow cast mates.
In an exclusive interview with People in May 2023, Vanessa revealed that she had officially parted ways with The Oppenheim Group for good. Instead, she rejoined The Agency, an esteemed real estate firm led by Mauricio Umansky, husband of Kyle Richards, and is featured on Netflix's Buying Beverly Hills. While the possibility of appearing on the rival real estate show remains uncertain, Vanessa hinted: "You have to watch next season to see what happens."
In September 2022, she also tied the knot with her photographer fiancé, Nick Hardy, in a picturesque ceremony held at The Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego. Beyond her real estate pursuits, Vanessa has also kept busy launching Wave of Love, a range of butterfly-inspired jewellery and accessories.
Maya Vander
Confirmed in May 2022, Maya Vander's departure from Selling Sunset marked a significant turning point in her life. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Maya shared her decision, acknowledging the difficulty in stepping away from the immensely successful show. She expressed her gratitude for being part of the hit series, stating: "Being part of such a successful hit is absolutely amazing and I am so grateful for it!"
Maya revealed that her choice was influenced by personal reasons, including the heartbreaking loss of a baby at 38 weeks. Prioritising her family, she felt compelled to take time away from the spotlight.
By the fifth season of Selling Sunset, Maya had already relocated to Miami with her family, solidifying the move after bidding farewell to the show. Leaving The Oppenheim Group behind, she announced in June 2022 the establishment of the Maya Vander Group, which joined forces with the renowned real estate giant Compass.
While excelling in the real estate realm, Maya has also been expanding her family. In May 2023, she shared the delightful news of the arrival of her baby girl, Emma Reign. Keeping her pregnancy journey relatively private on social media, she expressed her relief and overwhelming happiness, stating: "This was a long 9 months as I kept my pregnancy as quiet as possible from social media. I gave birth a few days ago, and words cannot express my sense of relief and happiness!"
