Ever since the series began in 2002, celebrities have been facing their fears Down Under in Australia. However, this year the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestants are heading to Abergele in North Wales as the ongoing pandemic has thrown a spanner in the works. Luckily, dynamic duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are still set to front the hit ITV series, only this year, with a twist.

Stars rumoured to be taking part include Vernon Kay, Coronation Street star Beverly Callard, EastEnders’ Jessica Plummer, and journalist Victoria Derbyshire, as well as Olympic athlete Mo Farah.

When it comes to money, telly presenter Vernon is reported to be pocketing the most out of all contestants ahead of his stint in Wales. has contacted representatives of all rumoured celebs for comment on reported salary figures.

Here’s what the celebrities are rumoured to be taking home for a stint in Gwrych Castle.

Vernon Kay – £250,000

Rumoured to be raking in the most cash out of any contestant this year, Vernon is reportedly lining his pockets with a comfortable £250,000 for his appearance on the show, if he gets to the final.

A source told The Sun the presenter, 46, has been asked to do the series many times before, hence the large budget.

The former Family Fortunes host – who is married to Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly – has been laying low since leaving Radio X in 2017, making this a notable comeback.

An insider told Mirror Online: “Everyone’s so pleased to have Vernon on board, he’s a lovely guy, full of down-to-earth northern charm and perfect for the show.”

Beverley Callard – £125,000

Dazzling Coronation Street star Bev, 63, is reported to be cashing in on a whopping £125,000 for her participation.

Bev – who has played Liz McDonald on the hit soap since 1984 – has a lot to live up to as soap actors often win big in the series, just like former EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa won last year.

Corrie’s Andy Whyment narrowly lost out to Jac during last year’s series, as the pair were comfortably the favourites for many viewers.

Russell Watson – £100,000

Opera grandeur Russell Watson is thought to be getting £100,000 for his I’m A Celeb stint.

The singer’s rumoured appearance on the hit ITV series comes after he suffered a brain tumour.

In 2006, he was given the all clear soon after his diagnosis, however just one year later the brain tumour had returned.

After major emergency surgery and a rehabilitation programme, Russell is setting his sights on becoming this year’s King of the Castle.

Victoria Derbyshire – £75,000

With a reported £75,000 hitting her bank account for this year’s series, Victoria is another rumoured contestant on the show.

The award-winning BBC journalist and newsreader is reportedly looking to undergo gruelling challenges just months after the channel dropped her daily talk show.

Shrugging the bad news off, the 52-year-old is reportedly “always game for a challenge”.

An insider told The Sun : “Victoria is always game for a challenge so when she was approached for I’m A Celebrity she jumped at the chance.

“It’s always something she’s wanted to do but because of her family she’s never wanted to fly to Australia and be away from them for so long.

“When the show moved to Wales and the opportunity came up, she didn’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth so said yes straight away.”

Ruthie Henshall – £75,000

West End star Ruthie is also reported to be pocketing £75,000 for this year’s I’m A Celeb stint.

The actress, 53, is famed for being the ex-girlfriend of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and will reportedly be spilling the tea on their past romance.

An insider told The Sun: “Ruthie is a particularly exciting signing for I’m A Celebrity as viewers will want to see if she divulges any gossip on her relationship with Prince Edward.

“They’ll be hoping she lets slip some juicy information on her posh ex during cosy, intimate chats round the campfire.”

She previously admitted she was often smuggled into Buckingham Palace for secret dates with the Prince.

Ruthie explained: “It always makes me laugh, I’d sort of say ‘I’m going to my boyfriend’s tonight.’ Nobody knew who he was..It was very exciting, but I genuinely fell in love with him.”

Jessica Plummer – £75,000

After leaving EastEnders just last month, Jessica is not one to sit around and do nothing.

The soap star – who played Chantelle Atkins on the hit BBC soap – is rumoured to be getting £75,000 for her appearance on I’m A Celeb.

After her character was brutally killed off in a harrowing domestic abuse storyline, Jess is gearing up to expand her popularity with viewers across the country.

A source told The Sun: “Soap stars always do well in the show, just look at Jessica’s Enders’ predecessor Jacqueline Jossa last year.

“Bosses are delighted to be able to convince her to take part.”

For those who aren’t familiar with soaps, Jess may be a familiar face after being the star of pop band Neon Jungle. The band’s hits included Braveheart, Welcome to The Jungle, and Louder.

AJ Pritchard – £50,000

Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Pritchard is reportedly making £50,000 for his stint on the show.

After leaving the hit BBC One dance show earlier this year to venture out and try “new things,” it’s reported AJ will be heading to the castle.

Swapping the ballroom for the Welsh castle, it’s safe to say AJ will be facing challenges he’s never faced before.

Announcing his departure from the hit BBC One series, AJ took to Instagram to praise Strictly as he shared his reasons for stepping down from the show.

He penned: “I have some news for you all. Please see the below statement from my team also sending my love to everyone in this difficult time, please keep safe. AJ x.”

Explaining why, his team revealed: “After four years on Strictly Come Dancing, AJ has decided the time is right to leave the show and follow his dreams to explore opportunities in the presenting world alongside his brother Curtis.

“AJ would like to thank the team at Strictly and everyone at the BBC for giving him such a brilliant opportunity.

“AJ would also like to send his love and gratitude to all who have followed and supported his career. He is excited for you to all join him on the next chapter of his journey.”

Hollie Arnold – £50,000

Paralympian Hollie Arnold is reportedly set to rake in £50,000 for her stint on the show.

The athlete – who competed in category F46 javelin – is no stranger to the limelight after representing Great Britain in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Her fitness assets are set to be vital for the hit ITV show – as endurance and stamina might be the key to getting those stars for campmates.

Her rumoured appearance on the show comes as a special delight to many – as her timetable freed up after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo were cancelled.

Other rumoured celebrities taking part in the show include Giovanna Fletcher, Shane Richie, Mo Farah, Keith Duffy, and Jordan North.

Their salaries are currently unknown.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here returns later this month to ITV.
