This Morning fans were left rather emotional on Thursday morning when a brave nine-year-old girl, who is terminally ill with cancer, was surprised by Holly Willoughby live on air.

Brave guest Sophie appeared with her proud mum and dad to talk about her cancer diagnosis – and it wasn't long before she was surprised by a video call from her favourite presenter Holly.

After being introduced by hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, young Sophie's dad explained that his little girl has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and has undergone chemotherapy.

He said: "She's been so positive about it.

"She's got something called Rhabdomyosarcoma and unfortunately she had a twelve inch tumour removed back in September and she relapsed back in September after about nine months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

"So they've told us there's no cure for it now, but Sophie being Sophie she just wants to be positive about it."

It wasn't long before Sophie got a wonderful surprise from her favourite presenter, Holly Willoughby, who suddenly appeared via video call to chat to the guest.

Sophie was beaming as blonde beauty Holly waved excitedly at the guest, saying: "Hello Sophie! It's so so lovely to meet you," to which Sophie replied: "Hello!".

Holly said: "I'm so sorry I can't be there but when I heard you were coming on the show I was like 'right, I want be there, I want to see her!', I'm sending you a big virtual hug through the screens."
