'The Challenge: All Stars': Rumors Say Cast Only Agreed to Film for 2 Weeks Total
The Challenge: All Stars brings together the best of the best from past seasons of MTV’s The Challenge. Now, the debut season is almost over, and it seems shockingly short compared to past seasons of the show. It seems rumors suggest the cast only agreed to film for two weeks, which is why the season is short and sweet. Here’s what the rumors say.
‘The Challenge: All Stars’ cast allegedly only agreed to film for 2 weeks
MTV’s The Challenge brings back the same veteran players time and time again, and it seems many of those competitors make a living off of their reality TV status. But such is not necessarily the case for All Stars. Many of the All Stars cast members moved on completely from reality TV, and this show gave them the opportunity to disrupt their lives and jump back into the wild game for $500,000.
The season started with 22 competitors, and the game began weeding the cast out quickly once the eliminations sent both a male and female competitor packing. And it seems there may be a reason for the quick season. According to Reddit users, the cast only agreed to film for two weeks, as they likely had other business to attend to at home.
“Why so [few] episodes??” one Reddit user commented. “They’re sending like 10 people to the final … they should have done at least 2 more eliminations.”
“Cast only agreed to appear if filming was only 2 weeks,” another answered. “Production had to speed things up.”
Where is ‘The Challenge: All Stars’ filmed?
Those who watched MTV’s The Challenge: Double Agents certainly noticed the difference in the environment for All Stars. Double Agents filmed in Iceland, and the historic final was filmed during hurricane weather that was some of the worst the show ever dealt with.
As for All Stars, the cast and crew are in Argentina. This also gives the show the throwback vibe fans love to see, as many of the earlier seasons of the show were filmed in warmer climates.
So, why was Double Agents filmed in such a frigid place? It seems coronavirus (COVID-19) had something to do with it. Showrunner Emer Harkin talked to Variety about scouting for locations during a pandemic.
“Traditionally, I scout a couple of months in advance, so I’ll go to multiple countries and check what they have on offer,” Harkin explained. She then noted she had to take “virtual tours” in 2020, which was tough.
“Being able to do that virtually was really, really eye-opening [but] it’s also quite daunting because you can never underestimate the advantage of having boots on the ground and really seeing and feeling a location,” she said.
How many competitors are going to the final?
So, which of MTV’s The Challenge competitors are headed to the All Stars finale? For the men, it looks like Big Easy punched his ticket to the end, as he won episode 7’s elimination round against Nehemiah. Derrick, Darrell, Yes, Mark, and Alton are also headed to the end.
For the women, Jisela just won the elimination round, sending Kendal packing. Aneesa, Jemmye, Kellyanne, Jonna, and Ruthie are also all headed to the final.
That’s 12 competitors total attempting to go for the big money at the end. It seems the final is likely to be two episodes long, leaving the season with a total of nine episodes. We’re excited to see who takes home the grand prize.
