NBC’s sleeper sitcom hit Superstore is sadly ending after six seasons later this month. As Jonah Simms (played by Ben Feldman) and the rest of the Cloud 9 Team handle their lives as essential workers during the coronavirus pandemic, the series has confirmed the store’s former manager Amy Sosa (America Ferrera) will return for one last time after departing for California at the start of season six.
America Ferrera is set to return as Amy Sosa for one last time before Superstore closes up shop with its sixth season.
Amy has been a mainstay for the series since the first season, and rose through the ranks to become store manager.
Unfortunately, she and boyfriend Jonah Simms decided to split near the end of season five, and seemingly made her final appearance in the most recent season premiere.
Midway through Superstore’s unconventional sixth and final season, NBC have now revealed Amy will be paying Cloud 9 one last visit before the series comes to an end.
It has also been confirmed that the series will be giving fans a double dose of retail comedy with March 25’s one hour finale.
NBC have released a first look trailer at the show’s upcoming farewell, which seems to confirm Amy will be back in person rather than simply beaming in via a quick Zoom chat.
Former series lead America Ferrera herself has also confirmed the news with a recent post on her Instagram page.
She wrote: “Surprise! Amy’s back! So glad I got to play with my @NBCSuperstore family for the big series finale.”
“It was a joyful and bittersweet goodbye that we can’t wait to share with our amazing fans.”
Viewers initially thought Amy had gone for good after the team said their tearful goodbyes during the comedy’s 100th episode back in November.
However, the actress had previously teased she may eventually be back in a statement released shortly after the season premiere aired in late 2020.
Ferrera said: “The last five-plus years with this cast and crew have truly been so amazing. It’s been such an anchor in my life — a place that I felt so supported and so loved by all of you.

“I feel like I have grown so much as a person, as a producer, as a director, as an actor… and coming here every single day has just been a gift.
“I haven’t taken a moment of it for granted… I hope to be back, and to get to see you, before it’s all done.”
The November premiere opened the season on a bittersweet note as Amy and Jonah decided they weren’t ready to take their relationship to the next steps.
Even so, comments from co-showrunner Gabe Miller indicate their story may not be quite over yet.
He said: “We feel like the door is still open the way that we left things.
“They’re not on the same page about their future right now, but who knows? They still could find their way back to each other.”
Now Amy Sosa’s return has been officially returned, many will be hoping she and Jonah will use the show’s final hour to patch things up before Superstore reaches closing time.
Superstore seasons 1-5 are available to stream on Netflix UK now.
