Presenter AJ Odudu and pro dancer Kai Widdrington’s on-screen chemistry and impressive scores have made them the couple to watch on this series of Strictly Come Dancing. The duo appeared on Friday’s instalment of It Takes Two where AJ revealed to host Rylan an effect Kai has on her in a candid admission.

AJ, 33, and Kai, 26, were invited on to It Takes Two for a chat with host Rylan, 33, about their time in the BBC competition so far.

The host reflected on their Halloween Week performance which saw AJ dressed as Medusa for a frightening Viennese Waltz to Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande.

Speaking about the experience, AJ told Rylan: “It was brilliant, I literally hissed at Kai and we really got into character.

“I loved everything about this dance. I loved the speed and I loved how dynamic it was and I loved getting thrown across the dancefloor.”

AJ also admitted she thought it was great to “take control” of the dance routine last week, and was thrilled to receive a score of ten from Motsi Mabuse and nines from the other three judges.

Rylan probed the couple on their on-screen chemistry which has set tongues wagging in recent weeks.

AJ said the choreography has been “so challenging” each week as the competition continues to heat up.

However, she then candidly admitted: “But somehow Kai manages to unleash something inside me that I didn’t even know I had myself so that is brilliant.”

When he questioned Kai about his connection with AJ, he replied: “I have a dream partner and I couldn’t have asked for anyone better.

“But I am trying to give her the best choreography I can so she looks amazing, so I am trying hard in that department.

“She just looks amazing and I even tell her she’d look good in a bin bag.”

Strictly fans took to Twitter to gush over the couple’s bond, with Loved By You commenting: “And here I was thinking I wouldn’t get this until the finals or even semi-finals!!! They are such a dream together, they’ve done a brilliant job this season. And again AJ is a non-dancer, that’s impressive.”

Louise quipped: “[Kai’s] trying very hard in the choreography department. Looks like he’s trying very hard in the perfect boyfriend department too. Love these two.”

Karen added: “I love how Rylan is as invested as we are!”

This weekend AJ and Kai will dance the Charleston to Don’t Bring Lulu by Dorothy Provine.

While AJ said she could not wait to learn the Charleston, she soon discovered just how difficult it was to master.

She joked that the only break she gets to take in the routine is when she is “thrown in the air” by Kai.

The duo will be going up against eight other couples this weekend in a bid to get another step closer to the Glitterball Trophy.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One at 6.45pm on Saturday.
