For Movie Week, AJ and Strictly Come Dancing professional Kai danced to I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston, from The Bodyguard and the judges couldn’t get enough of the routine. Kai also seemed incredibly impressed with his partner’s performance as he whispered a sweet message when the music ended.
Kai was seen picking AJ up in his arms and as the audience erupted into applause, the TV star was clearly emotional.
“Ah I love you,” Kai was heard saying. “I love you so much.”
The pair embraced with AJ thanking her professional dance partner for his support.
“Oh my. I have got goose pimples after that,” host Tess Daly remarked. “Everybody was on their feet, Motsi [Mabuse], Shirley [Ballas], they were on their feet.
“Breathtaking. A Little bit of movie magic right there. Motsi were you spellbound?”
“I was spellbound. Movie magic,” Motsi commented. “I was really moved and I just love it when you really moved and I just love it when we have the opportunity to sit back and enjoy, and I try hard to stay calm and stay down but it doesn’t always happen.
“There was so much pure quality in there. What a beautiful dance, congratulations.”
Shirley added: “The portrayal of the character was insane and I felt the love story, I went all the way back to the movie, you took me to that place.
“It was beautiful, you also had a great frame, and centring towards each other’s body.
“This is on a very good track. Continuing to work on the lower ring of the toe ball.
“You are definitely one to watch.”
AJ was thrilled with the feedback and the pair went on to receive a score of 35 points leaving them second on the leaderboard.
The pressure is on for Strictly Come Dancing favourite AJ as bookies have revealed John Whaite and Rose Ayling-Ellis are now favoured to lift the Glitterball Trophy.
AJ is the 5/2 favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing, according to Ladbrokes.
John has received the most support over the last week, which has seen his odds of winning cut into 3/1, making him the same price as Rose.
Adam is fancied as a 6/1 shot with the bookies, while 10/1 says Rhys is this year’s winner.
Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “It’s incredibly tight at the top of the betting and it’s proving hard to call which celeb will be favourite by the end of the weekend.”
Could AJ help professional dance partner Kai Widdrington secure his first win on his debut series?
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Sunday on BBC One at 7.10pm
