Strictly bosses beef up security to protect stars amid ‘sinister threats’
Security measures have reportedly been tightened by bosses at Strictly Come Dancing ahead of this year’s live show in Blackpool.
Bosses are said to be convinced that stars of the BBC dancing show are “at risk” away from their London studios and all cast members are being trained on “how to protect themselves”.
Contestants were apparently assigned codenames in a secret briefing as security was amped at Elstree in North London, according to The Sun.
The news comes after professional dancer Giovanni Pernice was attacked by masked muggers a few weeks ago.

A source told The Sun: “The dancers and celebs are more at risk away from the London studios which are protected by security.
“So, for this year’s Blackpool trip, the producers are taking no risks.
“Everyone will be briefed on how to protect themselves.”
Professional dancer Gorka Marquez was battered by thugs in Blackpool in 2016.

Fellow co-star AJ Pritchard was targeted by yobs in a nightclub in Cheshire last year along with his brother and Love Island star Curtis Pritchard.
Professional dancer Nancy Xu’s boyfriend Mikee Michele has been recruited by Strictly chiefs to beef up the security for both dancers and celebrities.
The publication reports the new team were introduced due to a couple of “specific, very sinister threats.”
A Strictly representative told Daily Star Online: "Like any live TV show we take security incredibly seriously.
We always have extensive security measures in place to protect our cast, crew and audience, and the arrangements are reviewed on a regular basis.”
Strictly broadcasts live from Blackpool every year.

It is the pinnacle point of the series where surviving couples get to dance at Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
This year the show will broadcast live from the iconic venue on November 16.
Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher topped the leaderboard during the first week of the competition with partner Oti Mabuse.
Strictly returns to BBC One this Saturday at 6.40pm.
