Viewers are still waiting for the fifth season of Riverdale to continue as there are still plenty of questions to answer from the series’ last episodes from back in March. Thankfully, the bonkers young adult drama will be returning to The CW and Netflix very soon, though a recent scheduling reshuffle has blindsided some fans.
The sixth season of The CW’s gripping Archie Comics series will premiere later this year, with one key difference.
Episodes have traditionally rolled out on Wednesday nights for the past five instalments, with international viewers able to enjoy the series on Netflix the following Thursday.
However, it has now been confirmed that the sixth season of Riverdale will air slightly earlier in the week, at 9pm on Tuesdays.
This means that episodes will most likely be available on Netflix on Wednesday mornings.
The news comes just after the ongoing fifth season was confirmed to be returning from its hiatus on Wednesday, August 11.
The CW’s latest update to their fall schedule for 2021 also means Riverdale fans won’t be waiting long until the series picks up from its fifth season finale.
Despite the shortened gaps between new episodes, some viewers weren’t happy with the network’s surprising new release plan.
Riverdale-heads took their grievances to Twitter when they realised they’ll have to re-work their whole schedule around the show’s new weekly roll-out.
One disappointed viewer wrote: “Riverdale on a Tuesday? Ew, I don’t like that.”
And another agreed and added: “Riverdale being on a Tuesday just feels weird.”
Some felt this new air date was especially inconvenient considering The CW is also home to the popular superhero series, The Flash.
Many of the network’s faithful audience will therefore be tuning in for a whopping double bill each Tuesday, rather than spreading their TV viewing over the week.

“OMG Riverdale season 6 after #TheFlash season 8. The Tuesday night is ruined,” tweeted a third fan.
And another weighed in: “So Riverdale is going to be on Tuesday at 9pm I’m really confused.”
Meanwhile, still more viewers were upset that they won’t be able to double up with another popular CW series, Legacies.
A final fan said: “They’re moving Riverdale to Tuesday and Legacies stays on Thursday. For the love of God I just wanna watch those damn shows back-to-back!!”
Thankfully, viewers based in the UK and other countries outside of the US won’t be dependent on live viewing, as new episodes are still expected to hit Netflix the following morning.
The CW have also confirmed: “The eighth season of The Flash and the sixth season of Riverdale will begin their seasons with special five-episode events that will include a number of superheroes from across the universe appearing in the former.”
Speculation is now running wild as to what a five-episode Riverdale event could look like, with a number of fans praying they won’t have to endure five weeks of back-to-back musical specials.
Riverdale season 5 continues Wednesday, August 11 on the CW and the following Thursday on Netflix.
