Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley had to take on an I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! trial called ‘Castle Kitchen Nightmares’, which will be shown on Wednesday’s instalment of the ITV show. As part of the dreaded challenge, the 65-year-old journalist had to slide headfirst into a pile of rotten food and search for stars. Ahead of Richard landing in the spoiled fruit, Ant and Dec were left in stitches as they saw him disappear down a chute, with Ant saying “that image will live with me for a long time”.
Richard left the camp to meet with Ant and Dec who told him about the bushtucker trial he needed to complete to feed his campmates that evening.
In a clip from Wednesday’s instalment of the ITV reality show, Richard pointed to a trap door and asked Ant and Dec: “I need to go down here do I?”
Dec, 46, grinned and replied: “Yes, let’s get [you] down the chute.”
Ant reminded Richard he needed to go down it headfirst, which the 65-year-old quickly did without hesitation.
While watching Richard slide into the darkness Dec shouted: “And he’s off.”
The Geordie duo started giggling as they heard Richard yelling as he slid down the chute to start the revolting trial.
Ant laughed: “That image will live with me for a long time.”
Meanwhile, Richard found himself surrounded by rotten food which he had to navigate his way around to unearth the all-important stars.
“That’s rotten fruit and veg on you Richard,” Ant smiled as he watched on through a monitor.
Richard, who had to crawl around on his knees to find the stars, started to get frustrated as the rotten fruit kept being poured over his body.
“I’ll never find a star in here,” he fumed to the presenters who were watching on in hysterics.
As more mouldy food was poured over Richard while he was three minutes into the trial, he shrieked: “Ergh, it’s freezing.”
When Dec told the Good Morning Britain presenter he had another seven minutes left on the clock he replied: “This is really, really, hard.
“There’s no way of sorting the [fruit from the stars].”
I’m A Celebrity fans will have to wait until the episode airs to discover if Richard found any stars.
The presenter has come under fire for a “distracting habit” on the ITV show.
Viewers have been left frustrated by the star often referencing his Richard and Judy days during his time at the Welsh castle where the camps are based.
Richard is married to Judy Finnigan and the duo starred in their own self-titled show between 2001 and 2008.
The TV host presented also This Morning with Judy from 1988 until 2001.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
