Power show boss hints at epic Tommy Egan return in Book 2 after brutal courtroom twist
POWER show boss has hinted at an epic Tommy Egan return in Book II after that brutal courtroom twist.
The Power spin-off Book II: Ghost left fans on cliffhanger following the show’s season premiere.
Viewers watched as Tasha, Tariq’s mum, claimed her innocence while on trial for murdering her husband a murder trial James Ghost St. Patrick.
It was actually Tariq who shot his dad, but Tasha won’t let him own up to the crime and the blame falls to his mother.
However, she is trying to hold Tommy Egan responsible instead.
Viewers held their breath as Tasha told the courtroom: “The man who killed James St. Patrick is… Tommy Egan.”
Speaking to TVLine, showrunner Courtney Kemp revealed her decision wasn’t premeditated.
She said: “[Tasha] knows that Tariq wants her to say his own name… and she can’t. She can’t bring herself to do it, so she says it’s Tommy.”
Tasha and Tariq had originally planned to make sure Dre would be blamed for Ghost’s death, however, he was ruled out as a suspect earlier on in the episode.
Referencing an earlier part of her interview, she added: “Remember how I said a familiar face would show up at some point?
“I don’t know: If somebody said in court that I did something that I didn’t do, I might feel compelled to show up, maybe, and talk to them about it?”
Fans were left disappointed when the spin off show premiered on Sunday night without central character Ghost, played by Omari Hardwick.
Just recently the suave actor, 46, drove fans wild as he released a rap track with the chorus ‘the neighbours think I’m really Ghost’ with Wyclef Jean to coincide with the new era of Power on Instagram.
One fan of Ghost and co-star Tommy Egan wrote: “I can’t even watch this new show because it ain’t Power without you both.”
Another said: “Power ain’t the same no more. It was Ghost for me.”
A third begged the show’s creator Courtney Kemp to write him back in, chiming in: “Bring him back,” adding “Couldn’t he have been lieutenant governor for at least 1 season.”
Power Book II: Ghost follows Tariq, played by Michael Rainey Jr., as he establishes a new life after having killed his dad.
Tariq’s mom Tasha has taken the rap for Ghost’s murder but Tariq is doing everything he can to clear her name. Except for confessing, which would be the best thing.
Power is available to stream on Netflix now.
