Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen and her husband Clive Owen are helped out on their farm by their nine children. However, in a recent episode of Our Yorkshire Farm, Amanda shared her concerns over five-year-old Clemmy helping out with the family’s newest Shetland pony called Tony.
Amanda and Raven explained to Clemmy that it was time to put the pony on a special diet.
The Shetland pony had been putting on weight quickly as he kept stealing his stable mate’s food.
However, Amanda was concerned about Clemmy’s outlook on how the pony will age over time.
The Yorkshire Shepherdess said: “Clem loves Tony she’s got all sorts of ideas on what she wants to do with him and all the rest of it.”

“The only thing that slightly worries me about that relationship is she thinks that Tony is going to grow big as she grows bigger,” she continued.
“She thinks he’s going to be a big horse. I don’t see any reason to change that thought.
“In a kind of a way, he has expanded but only sideways rather than upwards.”
Unfortunately for the family’s 40-year-old Shetland Joe, Tony kept eating his food.
Discussing the animal’s new diet, Amanda said: “Joe is thinner and Tony is bigger.
“You can see little Joe’s hips but with him what can you feel?”
“Chub,” Raven quipped and Amanda revealed: “We’ve got some new food and this is really good for Joe and this food here is really good for Tony.”
“Why don’t we let Tony try some of the food now? And if he doesn’t like it, tough,” Raven suggested.

“That’s a good idea it’s going to fill him up but he won’t get fat,” the shepherdess agreed.
“Clem is learning all sorts,” Amanda commented. “She’s learning you are what you eat and Tony eats a lot.
“So there’s a bit of thought going into diets but it’s just about TLC and that’s a life lesson.
“She knows that Tony needs more exercise and less unhealthy food.”
“Tony relies on me because I get his water and his food with Raven,” Clemmy remarked.
“When you’re running about, shovelling and going out and about around the farm you probably cover a lot of miles so that’s good for you too,” Amanda said.
The trio decided to let Joe and Tony have a wander around the farm but soon realised they were heading to the sheep feeder.
“Tony’s on a diet, he can’t eat sheep food that’s why I’m blocking here,” Clemmy explained as she kept the ponies from the feeder.
Our Yorkshire Farm continues on Channel 5 on Tuesday at 9pm.
