Midsomer Murders star hints there's 'opportunity' for fan favourite to return | The Sun
MIDSOMER Murders star Fiona Dolman has hinted that fans could be treated to a return of one of the show's favourite characters.
Fiona, 53, who plays Sarah Barnaby on the hit drama has revealed that John Nettles character DCI Tom Barnaby could potentially reprise his role.
Speaking to The Express, Fiona said: "I think the viewers often say, we had an episode where Ben Jones came back."
She added: "Neil Dudgeon and I were firm friends with Jason Hughes and I think everybody would welcome Jason coming back, I think that would be lovely."
She then added: "I have worked with John Nettles, I think he's great. I think there's an opportunity there potentially for him to come back for an episode."
Fiona then ended her teasing statement, saying: "I'm not quite sure how they would work that but I think that would be quite fun."

However, John Nettle's return could be a tricky one as he supposedly retired as DCI Barnaby in 2011 and his younger cousin took over as DCI John Barnaby, played by Neil Dudgeon.
During an interview at the time, John said: "It's the end of an era for me. I suddenly realised that I'm going to be the oldest detective in the business now that David Jason has thrown off the mantle. "
He added: "But it was a very difficult decision to make. I'll have been doing Midsomer Murders for 14 years by the time Barnaby leaves."
He then completed his interview, saying: "I've formed familial ties with the people involved in the show and they will be hard to break."
