Love Island or Lie Island episode 8: Molly and Tommy could fall at final hurdle
It’s the final week of Love Island, with the five remaining couples hoping to make it to Monday night’s final for a chance of winning that £50,000.
But to do that, they’ve got to make the viewers believe their romance is the real deal – and body language expert Judi James isn’t so sure they’re succeeding.
For episode eight of Love Island or Lie Island, Judi has dissected the final dates ahead of the grand finale, and while Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury are doing everything to show the people at home they’re in love, our resident body language guru reckons the British public could be getting bored with their type on paper.
Talking about the dates we saw last night between Ovie Soko and India Reynolds, Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins, and Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea, Judi said: ‘This is something the programme needs to address. That ritual was pretty good for the first few series, now it’s become a formulaic thing.
‘In terms of body language, these dates are now the low point of the show, because they’re not showing anything genuine.’
And focusing on Molly-Mae and Tommy, Judi thinks they’re too cookie-cutter perfect.
She said: ‘They’d be the cliched couple to win. If people only want the Jack and Dani, they’ll get the winter version of those two again, and everyone will be going through that formula, and nobody will know until they come out that, oh, they weren’t a real couple. People perhaps deserve better than that.
‘Nothing against them two, they’ve done really well, like Dani and Jack, they look great together. But going forward, it’s nice to see people who might be a bit more giving and a bit more fun with a few more dimensions so we can see more depths in their personalities.’
Elsewhere, Judi has her say on Michael’s iconic faces while being pied by Amber, and that bust-up between Jordan and Anna.
Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2 until the final on 29 July. All props courtesy of B&M.
