Is Kerry coming back to Emmerdale and why did she leave? | The Sun

SOAP fans were stunned to see actress Laura Norton reprise the role of Kerry Wyatt last night.

The Emmerdale legend shared an emotional video call with Dan Spencer and promised she'd be back "very soon."

Why did Kerry Wyatt leave Emmerdale?

Kerry Wyatt left the eponymous ITV village in late 2022 in the wake of her fiancé Al Chapman's death.

As regular viewers of the Yorkshire-based drama will remember, the businessman was accidentally shot by Kyle Winchester during a heated confrontation with his long-term foe Cain Dingle.

The shot ended up being fatal and Cain was ready to take the blame for his young son's actions.

Soon after Al Chapman's death, Kerry realised how low her finances actually were due to him splashing the cash for his secret mistress, Chas Dingle.

Al had made plans to flee Emmerdale with Chas and her daughter Eve for a fresh start in a brand new house and with their many romps in luxurious hotels, his money was running low fast.

As a result, Kerry decided to take action and leave the Dales for a promising job on a cruise ship.

She packed up her things, encouraged by Chas, and left both of her daughters, Amy and Chloe, behind, remaining completely unaware of what Al had been up to behind her back.

This coincided perfectly with a huge change in actress Laura Norton's life.

Kerry's exit from the soap allowed the star to go on maternity leave.

In October, 2022, she welcomed her second child, a daughter named Ronnie, with her long-term partner (and former Emmerdale co-star) Mark Jordon.

But when can viewers expect her to come back?

Is Kerry Wyatt coming back to Emmerdale?

Although she's been out of the loop, Kerry Wyatt has made sporadic appearances on our screens as she remained in touch with her loved ones through video calls.

On Thursday, August 17, 2023, she reappeared in the village as she shared another call with Dan Spencer who is facing a hefty time in jail for the accidental death of Lloyd Sawyer.

Just as Dan expressed his worries for his fate, Kerry tried to reassure him as much as she could.

"Oh and I’ll tell you another thing, if that judge has got an ounce of intelligence he’ll see straight away that you’re a good’un", she first said.

"An idiot but a good’un. I wish that I could be there for you all. I love you Dan."

She then proceeded to promise him that she'd be seeing him "very soon" – a huge hint to her return on which viewers immediately jumped.

"Is Kerry coming home from her cruise ship?", one eager fan questioned.

While Kerry is tipped to return to the village while Dan waves an emotional goodbye to the Dales as he heads to prison, no precise date has been given for Laura Norton's comeback.

How will it play out?
