When Indiana Jones 5 hits cinemas next summer, it will have been 15 years since the last outing, the not so well remembered Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Shot in 2021, the latest Harrison Ford blockbuster has faced a number of delays amid rumours of a crazy time travel plot involving a de-aged Indy, as captured in set photos. The latest news, which of course must be taken with a pinch of salt, is that internal test screenings for Indy 5 at Disney have been abysmal.
UPDATE: Indiana Jones 5 director James Mangold has responded to these rumours
According to YouTube Hollywood leaker Overlord DVD: “From what my Hollywood spies are telling me, it’s only gotten worse… Disney is so upset over this situation. When Disney announced the one-year delay in the release date, I was told Disney was mandating reshoots for this atrocity in an effort to avert disaster. But now given some brand new information provided to me by my Hollywood spies, I honestly don’t know what the hell they were doing this last year because from what I’m hearing, Indiana Jones 5 is a genuine s***show, a bomb just waiting to explode in theatres that will forever tarnish the brand and ruin Indiana Jones.”
Overlord DVD claimed: “I was contacted by someone on the set of Indiana Jones 5 who was alarmed and revolted by what they read in the script.”
Allegedly the storyline begins in the 1960s with Indiana Jones and his goddaughter Helena, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Apparently, they go back in time via a portal at Stonehenge to both the Roman era (as seen in set photos) and to the 1930s during the time of the original films.
There old Indy meets young Indy and in one of six different endings both are killed off before Phoebe takes up the hat and whip as a female incarnation of the character – or at least one who takes up the mantle as a sort of Lara Croft.

This could potentially tie into Variety’s new report that an Indiana Jones TV series for Disney+ is in the works, which some fans are guessing is set after the movie and follows her spin-off adventures.
Overlord DVD continued: “According to my Hollywood spies…this film has not been saved by the reshoots, far from it. Disney is panicking because it’s so bad they don’t know what to do to save it.”
He then said the following is an unverified rumour and should be taken with a grain salt.

Overlord DVD shared: “My Hollywood spies told me, allegedly Indy 5 is bad. We’ve been told that Disney has test screenings of not just one ending, but six different endings and not one can get a good audience score…We’ve been told out of the six endings they tested, the best one gets a 35 per cent approval from test audiences. We’ve been told that Bridge puts the hat on in every ending.”
He added: “They know this movie is going to bomb big time, which is why they’ve delayed it as long as they have despite it being finished.”
Hopefully, the trustworthiness of the rumours will become more apparent when the first trailer is released. We’re guessing that could be attached to Avatar: The Way of Water this Christmas as Disney’s next big blockbuster.
Indiana Jones 5 hits cinemas on June 30, 2023.
