Earlier in the year, NCIS viewers said goodbye to fan favourite Jacqueline ‘Jack’ Sloane (played by Maria Bell) after five years on the CBS drama. In her most recent announcement, fans bid the actress farewell again, alongside messages of support for her decision to leave Instagram.

Taking to Instagram, Maria posted a message which read: “I’m re-evaluating my relationship with Instagram so signing off for a bit.

“I’ll let you know what I find later, God bless you all,” she continued.

In the caption, the actress wrote a much longer message which addressed her reasoning for moving forward without the photo-sharing app.

Maria wrote: “There are many reasons, but the main one being it is now common knowledge that it is toxic for young girls.”

The actress added: “Perhaps I will be back after a deep dive but who knows, I appreciate every one of you.

Funny being a liberal, progressive Hollywood whatever, I have kind followers from both sides of the aisle, I honor you all so much for your kindness, Love always wins. I’m sure of that,” she concluded.

Maria’s post was met with a ton of positive reassurance from her thousands of followers, which included other celebrities.

Diana showed her support for Maria and commented: “take as long as you need to and take care of yourself, I love you.”

“I will miss your posts,” wrote Donna.

Another fan commented: “We will miss you and support your search for truth which is indeed a power.”

Another said: “Hopefully, you’ll be back on soon, take care of yourself.”

Maria was first introduced to fans as Jack in season 15 of procedural drama NCIS, where she worked as a Forensic Psychologist.

She was also part of the NCIS Major Case Response Team led by NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon).

However, in March 2021, she made the life-changing decision to quit working for NCIS and reside in Afghanistan to continue the work of her murdered best friend Darya.

This came after Jack struggled to find the good in the work NCIS was doing.

Fans watched as Jack and Gibbs travelled to Afghanistan to help a group of young girls who had all been trafficked.

While they were there to keep the men away, Jack saw how she could be of help in the country and wanted to stay.

After informing Gibbs she wanted to help those who needed it more, the two said an emotional goodbye, after sharing an unexpected passionate kiss.

While Maria never shared the reason for her departure from the show, perhaps the reason for her Instagram exit is to prepare for an NCIS comeback.

NCIS season 19 continues Mondays on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be confirmed.
