How long have Chip and Joanna Gaines been married?

Chip and Joanna Gaines first met in 2001 and married two years later.

The Fixer Upper stars met after Chip walked into her father's auto shop in Waco, Texas, and saw a photo of Joanna, in her early 20s at the time.

"I knew I'd marry her one day just by the picture on the wall," Chip would tell Popsugar.

When they eventually went on a first date, he was 90 minutes late.

"I still don’t remember what he said that convinced me to walk out the door with him. He didn’t even have a plan for our date," she wrote in their memoir, The Magnolia Story.

"He said, 'So, Joanna, where do you want to go eat?'

"He didn’t apologize for being late, either. He had so much confidence. I don’t know. I can’t explain it.

"Only Chip could be an hour-and-a-half late and have no one mad about it."

The relationship somehow continued even after Chip took months to call Joanna after their first date.

Chip had made a bet with a friend about who could wait the longest before calling their date.

"I really wanted that fifty dollars from John! That's the only reason I didn't call," he wrote in their memoir.

Joanna would eventually agree to see Chip again.

They would get married in Waco in 2003. They own and operate Magnolia Homes, a remodeling and design business in Waco.

The couple hosted the reality show Fixer Upper for five seasons, and their new Magnolia Network launches on Discovery+ in July of 2021.
