Dame Olivia Newton-John's Grease co-star broke down in tears as he paid a touching tribute to her on This Morning.

Barry Pearl – best known as T-Bird Doody in the hit 1978 classic movie – was speaking about Olivia to presenters Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle as he struggled to control his emotions in the wake of the actress' death.

Speaking about their close friendship the actor broke down in tears as he used her

He said: "We remained friends, the entire Grease family, we're all still in touch with each other. It's remained this family by creating this piece of art, it's kept us together all these years. It's a major loss for us.

"She was a force and yet of a delicate nature, she just had this sweetness about her. It was just the person that she was, she was always looking to do good and she did. Her legend and memory will continue to do that. She has left an amazing legacy, which will continue to impact people in a positive way."

Barry then broke down in tears as he thanked fans of Grease for keeping the momentum going over the years and signed off with olivia's own "love and light" catchphrase.

He continued: "Thank you for allowing me to come and speak to the collective Grease fans, because you folks are the ones who kept us relevant. And she was well aware of that. And she treated all of her fans with grace and dignity and love and light."

Olivia sadly passed away on Monday at the age of 73 after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Having originally been diagnosed with primary breast cancer in 2002, Olivia went into remission following treatment but her cancer returned in 2017 having spread to her spine becoming stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and therefore terminal.

Stars including Danny Zuko actor John Travolta have rushed to share memories and condolences following her death.

He wrote: "My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much.

"We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever!

"Your Danny, your John!"
